I’m writing on behalf of a significant portion of the player base residing in Oceania and Southeast Asia, who are currently facing severe difficulties enjoying War Thunder under fair conditions. In most of our matches, we are forced to play with ping exceeding 250 ms, and in many cases even reaching 400 ms. This drastically affects gameplay especially in Ground Battles, where latency turns every encounter into a lottery, regardless of who fires first.
This issue is not new, and it has been raised multiple times over the years on this very forum. However, to this day, no effective solution has been implemented. We strongly believe that opening a server located in Singapore or Perth (Australia) would greatly benefit players from:
- Australia and New Zealand
- The Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia
- Japan, South Korea, India
- Even parts of Western USA and the Middle East could see improved performance
Australia is also a high-value gaming market with strong economic conditions and a player base willing to spend money on the game. However, the poor connection quality discourages investment. There are moments when we simply don’t feel like playing at all, which should be a clear red flag that the current server infrastructure is failing to serve a loyal and growing player community.
The technical foundation already exists: submarine cables such as the Australia-Singapore Cable (ASC) offer high-speed, low-latency connections between Asia and Oceania. The average ping between Singapore and Perth is around 60–85 ms, making it entirely feasible to deploy a new server that would expand Gaijin’s global infrastructure without harming other regions.
We respectfully but firmly request that you seriously consider the creation of a dedicated server for our region. This is not just a technical improvement; it is a matter of fairness to a community that has supported the game for years while enduring unfair conditions that negatively affect every match.
We sincerely hope this request does not go unanswered again.
Sincerely,
A community that still wants to play but can no longer do so with dignity.
