We have been patient, but it’s time to decompress bluewater naval. The ground trees and air trees have been done, and we desperately need it.
We have massive compression at top tier with 7.0 ships that are in no way equal. We also have 6.0, 6.3, and even some 6.7 ships that have no business competing against some 7.0 ships.
Further, we cannot add any of the remaining high tier battleships without first decompressing the trees, or the problems we have no will be much worse.
Please consider doing this soon. There aren’t that many ships in the trees, the community can provide plenty of input, and there are some glaring examples of ships that need to move up or down so it shouldn’t be overly difficult.
The biggest issue I can see is moving ships up to 8.0 and beyond will generate a discussion about aircraft in naval battles. Some of the 8.0 (and higher) planes will make naval a miserable experience if allowed to be flown out in battle. The F-84, for example, can already be a big problem being difficult to hit and being able to sometimes single-handedly destroy all of the 10 ships needed to bleed off the other team’s tickets.
Also anti air capabilities. Spawning Junkers bomber, just to be shot down by this russian SAM destroyer 5 secs after spawn is super meh. This mix of WW1, interwar, WW2 and cold war tech is toxic.
Both coastal and bluewater are really badly compressed, especially at the thigher ends. You have ships with only 0.3 or 0.7 br difference that have completely different capabilities and often have no actual chance of a fair fight
Coastal fleet isn’t better you got the same problem with all the clubbers and bad BR settings. But hey this is how naval works in War Thunder, there’s always a bigger fish.
I don’t disagree. I was selfishly focusing on the mode I play the most. Seeing something like a PT boat have to go up against an SKR-1/7 is pretty ugly.
Decompression of naval has to start with 4.0 to 7.0, not only battleships at 7.0.
Even more, whole bluewater should be start at least 4.0 considering 3.3~3.7 coastals.
I think the reason is that the boat has only 3 mods (54k RP total) while the tank has 6 mods (102k RP), but still… surely Gaijin must be aware of the image it creates - a Rank III vessel, from the middle of the research tree, having higher RP cost per module is discouraging to no end ☠ ☠ ☠
This is a Battleship-era decompression chart I made, including some of the potential future upcoming additions to fill out references. Not every ship is included, but you can get an idea;
And this is not including the decompression there should be from 4.0 to 7.0; accounting for that, the 6.7s on the chart whould be 7.7; and 9.7s would be 11.7.
Alot and especially German WW1 ships have no real AA potential. Bayern etc. at 8.0 would be an issue. There should be also figured something out to prevent too advanced planes and ordnance at these BRs. Right now one Corsair etc. is already enough to sink a German WW1 BB. And even if these ships have AA systems, at 9.7 they would be attacked by jets with advanced ordnance.
Colorado would be actually worse than Tennesse and Nevada. Yes she is 16’', but it also means that she has four less gun, and longer reload(her official reload time according to manual is 45 seconds, and USS West Virginia at best had 42 seconds to reload each guns even with using some un-manual method)
Also, it is not clear that Ersatz Yorck would be better than Bayern. Well it would be faster, but with cost of thinner armor with lack of citadel.
Montana is not laid down. This is sure. It’s only ordered, none of it actually laid down.
Besides, for BR… at least for an RB it doesn’t seem planes need seperate BR. Planes these days really having hard days against ship, not only evading AAs but also weaker bombs, and most early jets don’t have proper bomb to kill capital ships.
