I’ve been playing American planes around 10.0, and their rwr’s don’t detect j band radar. This has led to me getting slammed by a mig 25 without having any clue that I was being targeted. Obviously I know about multipathing, but what else could I have even done?
If you suspect you are being targeted, fly perpendicularly to the MiG-25, and it will lose lock. Chaff will help after you are flying perpendicular (notching), but isn’t really needed, in case you don’t have any.
If the mig-25 is bellow you, chaff too, while mantaining notch (flying perpendicular to the enemy radar).
Notching is the most common way to defeat radar missiles, multipathing is more like a last resort thing, and can’t always be relied upon.
Be mindful that if you spoof the mig-25’s radar missile, the enemy might try the IR missile next, so pop up a flare if you notice a 2nd missile. You don’t have to worry about anything else since he doesn’t have a gun, just avoid being rammed lol
Staying low will make life difficult for them, they have the auto switching MTI radar that cannot be used above 1500m if you fly too high they can still pick you up with SRC, but if you are low they have to come down to get you (if they have use the IR missiles at least), and the Mig-25 will wing rip if they don’t dump A LOT of speed when descending which will make them a lot more vulnerable, if they don’t get target focused, forget to watch their speed and rip their wings off.
You will also want them in MTI mode to notch them, in SRC mode it won’t care about the notch and the R-40s are really good at still hitting the target aircraft, even when the radar box is way off tracking the chaff.
