So the Rafale sustained turn rate nerf will soon be live. It will be going from 25 degrees per second down to around ~24 degrees per second. So about a 3-4% sustained turn rate nerf. For reference the Gripen had gotten around 14% sustained turn rate nerf since its introduction to the game. For some players the differences won’t be noticeable.
So the Rafale will soon go from the best plane in the game to the best plane in the game. But surely people will stop complaining about its dogfighting performance now that it’s accurate? But it should be stated it is still underperforming in terms of installed thrust and lift.
The report itself was being petty. It asked for 1-1.5 degrees sustained turn rate nerf down from 25 deg/s. Usually such small differences (5% or less) is normally closed and said to be “close enough”.
Measure the differences at SEP-0 for new and old Rafale, it’s about 1-1.5 degrees which is in line with what the report requested. It’s a nothing-burger. The good news though is that this relatively small nerf provides evidence against anyone trying to further nerf its sustained turn rate nerf.
No it wasn’t, it was just asking for the video to be rereviewed with the weight considered, I made zero suggestions on what the sustained rate should be.
If it truly was a nothing-burger it now wouldn’t be borderline the same as the F16A block 10 which now is like the 4th best dogfighter in the game with this new nerf.
This also means the eurofighter will be the best dogfighter in game once again.
How is the report petty tho? When the initial bug report that allowed it to be buff off of the wrong assumption after not checking the fuel bingo being changed from 800 to 500. That alone is just a unjust buff. Why shouldn’t have the initial bug reported be labeled as “close enough”
Sustained turn rate is one thing. The Rafale still has superior energy retention and can pull more G. Typhoon will still fall out of the sky in a prologued fight due to the Typhoons poor flight model.
The initial report was still right about the underperformance of the Rafale seeing as they didn’t completely revert the nerf but instead just decreased the amount of the initial buff.
The TWR of the euro fighter made it better at low speed dogfights. The rafale could only hope to outperform it in pure sustained dogfights. Now it’s way more equal.
Saying the EFT just falls out of the sky is absolute copium, when even compared to the rafale it can sit on it’s engines to remain inside the turn of the rafale (although it usually doesn’t end in a firing position)
Pure FM doesnt matter when you have HMD and HOBS missiles that not only close the gap but give the Rafale an overwhelming advantage in any 1v1 dogfight. Aim-9Ms i find rarely work below 1.5-2km
