It seems to lose lock of targets that leave the scan zone exactly after 4 seconds like you said (could’ve been 5 but I may have counted a little fast)
Yeah, then it just does not update targets outside of the scan zone. The threshold for keeping not updated targets seems to be 4 seconds on the RBE2, so it just clear the dot after that.
Wonder if keeping the target outside the scan zone for a second or two and then bring it back will have the radar update it again.
Jokes on you we have primary prove for it as well as pictures and thats how we got it added. And that is is chosen by every nation and lying on reserve
I agree 100%, but I think MFD’s controls would require some more development we don’t have currently. So the fastest solution is to setup a fixed convenient scale OR having the scale automatically adjusting based on player’s altitude
Edit : sorry, you meant for the ft/m unit. Got it. Yes I agree also, actually I just want to have the radar tilt MFD usable in SIM.
Friend of mine just test drove his Rafale and as a not so knowledgable person when it comes to air, I fail to see what makes the aesa radar on the Rafale special in game compared to other normal radars?
It’s not special in game. It’s even very bad. It’s because we are not actually live. It’s basically the second dev server. The update was rushed so much they left stupid bugs. The Rafale’s radar is one of them. It should be AESA, meaning it could have multiple scan lines, and be extremely fast at updating scan in general. In game however it’s just a somewhat fast normal mechanical radar (not even faster than some mechanical ones likely the tornado lol)
I am having this issue that my radar sometimes loses radar lock for a split second.
it wouldnt even be noticeable, except if my MICA is spooling, it completely cancels it and I have to press the button again.
am I the only one experiencing this?
also side question: is the Rafale supposed to recieve all aspects RWR or are the top and bottom dead angles expected?
i keep getting the same issue. also, entering cockpit view in replay mode crashes the game. funny bug gaijin
I have multiple articles saying it was successful tested. That in combination with all the images should be enough. Also the source that is currently being used by gaijin is very flawed. It very vage and only says more missiles on the F4. Nothing about new pilons or the exact amount of missiles it can now carry. How do we know they cant bring 10 or 14 missiles with the F4 upgrade?
You can see all the evidence I found in this PDF
Someone elso put a lot of good evidence in this post:
Hello everyone, quick question, I am preparing a suggestion to change the position of the Mica present as standard on the plane, does the one below seem correct to you?
Spoiler
[poll type=regular results=always chartType=bar]- Yes
- No
Context:
Currently the Mica missiles that we obtain on the Rafale when unlocking it are present on hardpoints 2 and 10, these are the wing hardpoints of the Rafale (as shown in the image above).
Problem :
Since the aircraft can only carry air-to-ground weapons on hardpoints 2 and 10 (except for a central Gbu-24), it is therefore impossible to carry both air-to-ground weapons and Mica missiles before having unlocked the modification corresponding to these missiles. Modification of rank 4 by the way.
Stay within a certain logic :
The Rafale is currently the only top tier aircraft that cannot carry both its medium-long range missiles and air-to-ground weapons before having unlocked the modification corresponding to the medium-long range missiles, in fact all the other aircraft have their missiles placed on mounts that do not prevent this dual carriage.
Solution :
I propose two possible solutions
-
Changes to the basic loadout for the Rafale
The simplest solution would be to move the Mica missiles present as standard on the plane to hardpoints 4 and 8 which are provided for this purpose, this would allow players to have their Mica and to be able to embark simultaneously with their air-to-ground weapons as soon as they obtain them. -
The painful solution :
The painful solution would be to modify all the basic armaments of top tier aircraft so that the treatment provided is the same for everyone:
2.1 : The AIM-54s present under the wings of the F-14s would therefore pass under their fuselage to prevent the carrying of bombs and these missiles before having unlocked them
2.2 : The AIM-120s present under the various F-15s would pass under the CFTs in order to prevent the
carrying of smooth bombs for the F-15C and to prevent the carrying of guided weapons on the F-15E
2.3 : The AIM-120s present under the various F-16s would pass from hardpoints 2 and 10 to points 3 and 9 in order to prevent the carrying of AGM-65s and other guided bombs
2.4 :The R-77s of the Mig-29, Su-27 and Su-34 would pass to hardpoints preventing the maximum carrying of air-to-ground weapons
2.5 : The Eurofighter AIM-120s would move to hardpoints 2 and 12 in order to prevent as much as possible the carriage of air-to-ground weapons before having unlocked the modification of the AIM-120s.
They listed the pilot model countries to be added in the 2024 roadmap. France was not on that list, so I suggested that we should add a French Air Force pilot model and it passed. Expect to see them next year.
The problem is (I think) that you are confusing Dassault the DGA and the French army.
It is not because the plane was tested by Dassault and the DGA with 8 missiles that the French army necessarily has 8 missiles under its planes.
Dassault proposed the plane with 14 hardpoints but the French army decided not to keep the additional points for the Mica, something that India did not do for example.
The images and articles that you present in your PDF all concern tests by Dassault and/or the DGA, not by the French army. All those preceding the entry into service of the F3R in the French army are versions presented by Dassault or the DGA.
To quote one of your sources:
“This preliminary work, self-funded by Dassault Aviation are conducted in collaboration with the Direction Générale de l’Armement (the French Defense Procurement Agency) and will eventually lead to a complete clearance of the flight envelope.”
The tests were carried out and validated by Dassault and the DGA but never used by the French army.

sorry to hop in.
ive been reading a bit of the argument.
even if this is the actual setup chosen by the armee de l air, we already know its not beyond Gajin to cheat “a bit” for balance purpose (M2K-5F 8 missiles setup, F16AJ and many more)
I was going to say, I hate to mention the F-16AJ again, especially since I really just don’t have a problem with it. But if that plane is okay, only based on manufacturer specs and a test, then I really don’t see the big deal of giving the Rafale 8 missiles
Who cares what the french airforce used, if the plane is able to take more
At that point the Mirage 4000 never used irl the 530d too
Let alone the missile loadout, Rafale’s low speed FM sucks right now. I’m able to beat EFs in the Mirage 2K5F while I can’t (couldn’t) do the same thing in the dev server (I’m still researching Rafale, but shouldn’t make a difference since its FM stayed the same) with Rafale.
I know this is heresy for me to say this, but I would prefer the F-4F ICE in low speed turn fights over Rafale at this point
Edit : okay yeah I’m exxagarating, but still, doesn’t change the fact that Rafale is a downgrade from Mirage 2K5F right now
From my experience Rafale beats anything in low speed dogfights, i easily dusted couple EFT’s who dared to challenge me in 1vs1 on live server.
Problem is when they start to runaway, due to limited top speed on deck they can easily run away from you.
oddly enough, I had more success with the Mirage 2K5F against everyone. Just feels better at low speeds, like it can maintain a faster turn than Rafale at speeds of 350kmh
It’s still behaving very weirdly. It just doesn’t see anything unless you track them first with an acquisition lock.
Against test drive Mig15, from 30km to contact : nothing on my TWS at all. If I lock one manually, they then appear on the TWS screen and are tracked properly, but it looks like the TWS is completely blind by itself, somehow.
Current Rafale beats Mirage2k easily in dogfight, Mirage doesnt stand a chance unless Rafale pilot makes a huge mistake.
