Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

Frankly, I would rather we keep the 32 large flares if we can’t have the 72 as a mod.

Devs told us it was F3R in one of the report. Don’t worry, you’ll get your AESA. It’s probably just not ready yet so it was not mentioned in the devblog to stay truthful on its future capabilities

prolly because m2k 5f is still enough for top tier, has more cm, and missiles, rn rafale looks like more of a sidegrade (atleast to me) then a upgrade ngl.

+++ and +

STOP with artificial nerfs and buffs.

Currently they are still missing on dev blog so it doesnt mean anything until i see those missiles on my rafale.

Mirage 2000 was pretty fast, at ground hugging one of the fastest if not the fastest

Same vibe as the F-15A being lower than the Su-27 because it didn’t have a HMS, but the Mirage 4000 was not extended the benefit…

Let’s just cope that they’ll fix the MICA and it’ll turn out alright…

The Rafale is a modern aircraft that relies more on its internal equipment than on its missiles, IRL the ECM and other systems allow it to be at the level of other aircraft. In game as this equipment is not modeled, the aircraft will be in a delicate position.

I think above all that many people have made up their minds about the real capabilities of the aircraft and that is why many people are disappointed

Yes it is fast, but it seriously lacks acceleration compared to the planes it faces and (for the 2000C and D) does not have as much armament as its opponents, which does not prevent it from being an extremely competent plane.

The 2000c is competent because it’s 12.3, thankfully it claps mig23 and F4

Appart from the braking using control surfaces any person that knows Rafale should have known all this was going to be normal.

Worth to note Rafale should have smart flares that are able to defeat even IIR missiles but it’s not a thing in game atm and should also have advanced directionnal jamming but doesn’t. CM count on Rafale is not abnormal as Rafale has the systems needed to not need as much. Typhoon was built by not having to 100% rely on it’s EW suite to fight so it’s only logical they plaanned to use more CMs.

He is competent in facing planes that are for some faster, for some better armed, for others that accelerate more. French planes have always been like that, they are not the best in one category, on the other hand their versatility allows them to be at the same level as the others. And that will surely be the case with the Rafale.

i personally am not dissapointed about rafale capabilities, i knew how the plane will perform once it joins wt, and nothing has changed, my issue is the fact that irl rafale c f3r would be a straight up upgrade over mirage 2000-5F, even if we consider only war thunder capabilities, and thats because of the weaponary

Mirage 2000-5F got access to weaponary that it never fired under french service, it was made like that because 2000-9 of UAE could equip 2 magics together with 6 micas (afaik) and it equiped the pgm bomb series. we can even see the same happening to the Thai Alpha Jets, where the gunpod “capability” was never removed, so they got access to the gun in game, even tho the gun was never in thailand’s equipment.

i personally hoped for 8 micas on the in game rafale because as somebody mentioned, the indian f3r has the capability to carry 8.

Air density and physical phenomenons and constraints applied on an airframe are not the same on deck and at alts it’s normal you can go faster higher it’s like that for any plane what are you on about.

Rafale max speed on deck(0 meter from sea) is 750kts
Rafale max speed at 12000m is Mach 1.8-1.9

IAS and ground speed are different thing the top speed is either 750knots IAS or mach 1.8 ground speed wich at a certain altitude is the exact same speed

IRL the Rafale is far superior to the 2000-5F in terms of its detection equipment, personally I did not expect a revolution in the game with the arrival of the aircraft. If the radar is modeled correctly (the bug report for the AESA radar has been accepted), then the Rafale will really be a good improvement over the Mirage.

Regarding the addition of the export variants’ armaments, personally I am opposed to it, the export variants are generally heavily modified aircraft and (in my opinion) the 2000-5F should never have received the additional Magic or ground weapons.

To be honest I didn’t expect to have a Rafale F3.R in the game, adding an F2 would have made much more sense at the moment. And would have been much simpler to model/balance

There is already a report about wrong naming and wrong capabilities?

There are bug reports for the radar that have been accepted and we should receive the AESA radar (at least I hope so), for the name it seems that the plane remains under its F3 designation because it is ultimately a mixture of all the F3 standards

Btw i notice only now that there is inconsistencies about AASM lock range which is advertised as 20km but when pointing a target at like 19 km the AASM indicates POINT lock instead of TRACK lock. Has this been reported or it’s normal?
