Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

Aim-120C5 has the same seeker as every single other modern ARH missile in the game… bar the MICA EM which is almost impossible to notch.

Aim-120C5 has identical agility to the Aim-120B. Which is one the weakest, if not the weakest of all the modern ARH missiles in this regard

The only thing the B/C5 does better than the MICA EM is pure max range… but if you are being killed by an AMRAAM at any meaningful distance, then… skill issue.

Last time I checked. AMRAAM couldnt be fired 90 degree off boresight and hit something in a notch, deploying chaff. But I see MICA make that shot all the time. Im not entirely sure it is actually possible to defeat a MCIA EM fired at short range…

So Prove that MICA EM is equal in performance to the Aim-120C5.

Regarding tests, I’m curious about something phrased regarding SPECTRA. Some documents state that DDM-NG has potential DIRCM capability. Is this a form of future-proofing? or has a Rafale been tested with DIRCM at some point?

The Mica is the Rafale’s shorter range missile irl while the meteor is long range. The amraam on the other hand is the long range missile on the planes it equips. I doubt they have similar performance

The AMRAAM does whatever is required of it

I’m talking about AIM120A/B. And mostly about range performance. As mentionned before except the overall drag and burntime AIM120 loses in weight and diameter sector to MICA which makes to my knowledge absolutely no sense to claim AMRAAM can have a difference of more than 30km of max range with MICA. Except if MICA is modelled wrong in game and would have a shorter burntime but as I know people who advocated that MICA has the correct burntime and Fireball said the burntime should be shorter the diff in burntime between the 2 missiles is a shadowzone to me. But still i highly doubt that just as AIM120A/B, MICA absolute max range would be 80km i strongly believe that in the most optimal scenario it reaches beyond that.

If you are talking MICA EM vs Aim-120B… Then… the AMRAAM has maybe a firing window of maybe an extra 5km?

But below that, MICA EM is suiperior in every single respect.

Read again i added extra infos.

That is not ultimately true. MICA EM has been made to be a SRAAM/MRAAM while MICA IR is indeed made only to be a SRAAM. But yes METEOR is Rafale only BVRAAM but it’s not a MRAAM this role is filled by MICA EM and soon it’ll be replaced by MICA NG.

In any way MICA discussion should go there :

SPECTRA (allegedly) has (L-)DIRCM compability, but I have not been able to find anything more concrete about this capability or possible options.

Im honestly just going to put that thread, along with the EFT thread as a note at the very top of this topic

(If @WreckingAres283 wants to)

AFAIK it doesn’t turn as fast as missiles suited for short range like the sidewinder or mica

We will do it different in the next thread (which I am going to set up manually).

The devs should add some sort of pinged content feature like on Discord so that you can send people to the pinged contents that’d be faster than to have to send people to the first message each time.

Moving to mica thread

What of the recently mentioned double Meteor mounts in some material? Do you know of any photos of those? I believe they were being tested on later F.4s or maybe even the F.5.

The only way that the 27SM should have 14 missiles is:
2 of the inner 4 R-77s get put on new hardpoints in the wing and the 27SM is renamed 27SM3

If they did that, it would technically be accurate. But as it is right now, it’s a Frankenplane.

I’ve only seen those on EFT render. If at all it would probly come with F.5 imo.
