I would like to ask a question: Why didn’t France consider mounting GBU-24 bombs where the side fuel tanks are located? This could allow for a heavier weapons loadout, similar to the F-16C.
Oh and here some news :
at this point they really need to start building the replacement, i love the rafale but it is outdated now, stealth is vital and the claim of rafale stealth seem very inflated

Cool new capability that allows the Rafale to completely notch a missile and shoot. Maybe this is the buff that finally end the rafale’s suffering at top tier.
Jokes aside, I saw others talk about how you can shoot MICAs with TRK MEM but nobody here mentioned you can use IRST to lock, then switch to radar which puts the radar in TRK MEM and shoot a MICA

Cause this is a real life feature.
In real life MICA can be fired through IRST.
It wasn’t as stealthy as F-35, etc. but it definitely way more stealthier than any Gen 4 and Gen 4+ Aircraft. iirc, Rafale RCS was around 1m³ (?)
I cant even anymore, I know this the Rafale group and I’m happy for you.
But god damn each update the Rafale goes from a 10/10 to an 11/10 or a 12/10.

When MICA was fired Radar was on IRST mode.
Second you should ask this question to devs, as im not the one who make those decisions.
It is clearly fired in trk mem, and from what i remember there is also a bug making it so eurofighter can launch amram with irst, maybe same for other plane i don’t know.
The SU30SM with the r-77-1 should also have it AFAIK, and the Mirage 2000-5F as well
It’s not plane specific, it’s missile specific. As to why only those 2 have it, it’s because both were reported to be missing such capabilities.
I’ve heard that the AIM120C-5 apparently should also have it, but I’m not sure it was actually reported

Even if it gets it, it will never be used because AMRAAM can’t turn.

Look closely, I use IRST first because it has a 90 degree gimbal limit, then I toggle to my radar, which switches to TRK MEM because the target is beyond the gimbal limit, but I can launch a MICA anyway.

Doesnt matter since radar will try to use most suitable mode in order to fire MICA in that situation, just like it does in real life.
The radar can always guide the MICA in whatever mode it can uses to track a target. The IRST in game however can not do that. He is just using the larger gimbal limit of the IRST to get a memory track with the radar which in turn can guide the MICA. It’s still not working like it does IRL, that was the point
