The gameplay is the issue.
If AIM-120 saves you from Rafale the guy with the Rafale did something wrong.
At the best ranges for MICA the base R-77 is decent enough.
You also have a better chance with R-77 to notch while firing compared to AMRAAM which is needed when fighting Rafale.
You only have to adjust to the different gameplay a little though the differences are not as meaningful as one might think.
its workable with the AMRAAM but yes, it’s incredibly easy for a rafale to get close and take you out. The rafale flight performance is equal to that of the eurofighter and the MICA is much better missile within approx 15km. You’ve highlighted the problem- the Rafale can easily avoid the one thing its not good at and then once its close, you really don’t have many options. Sure the R-77 is good enough, but the Su-27SM/29SMT flight performance is horrific in comparison and makes it difficult to effectively get into notches and fight back
Superior I’d say. MICA also can reach out further than 15km though at 15km and below chances of surviving it really are slim.
SU-27 and MiG-29 are not necessarily worse in flight performance than other aircraft.
Even Eurofighter is limited after the nerf.
the 27SM and 29SMT are some of the worst high tier flight models. pretty much only the F-15E turns worse

It doesn’t matter, the 27SM IS NOT, one of the worst flight models at top tier.
It’s high speed and rating performance is plenty good, the J-11B is even better though their low speed perf could be better and should be revisioned.
Both of em are on par if not better than the F16C.vi
I have every single top tier except Italy and I can easily say your claim about Su-27 is wrong.

Okay some people really are surprising. I have no clue why my post was hidden, I was just saying that imo, the things that make the SU27 competitive in dogfights is the AOA, HMD and r73 combo. Remove the r73 and there’s not a lot of top tier (13.0-14.0) aircraft’s that it can beat.
F15E, probably F16C but not A, that’s mostly it. Eurocanards demolish it, the Chinese one as well
name a flight model that’s worse than the Su-27 at top tier (Apart from the F-15E). Aircraft like the Su-27SM or anything carrying the Derby or similar R-Darter are made pretty much irrelevant against a rafale

But to be truly honest with you i would have preferred to get another su 27 with a better radar and the r77-1 even if i can’t get 12 of them
The su 30 is such a bus i hated the grind and having played both su 30 and su 27 i would pick the su 27 any day of the week or even a j11b even though it gets less missiles at least it gets maws which helps with situational awareness
Oh and the tvc on the su 30 such a pain in the ass i wish you could disable it
This thread is about the Rafale, not the Su-30. However, for russia the 30SM is the only plane they have that stands a chance against a rafale
