Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

I try :)

Its honestly disturbing how elitist you are.

As for the comments about the EFT not being able to shoot over the shoulder using LOAL missiles, it very much can. The missiles used for doing so simply aren’t in-game at the moment, which is why I stated I doubted gaijin would implement said functionality “for the time being”.

Its almost like you’re trying your absolute best to start an argument simply for the sake of being toxic.

Nah u are on a whole other lvl when it comes to being toxic.

MICA-EM missile should get increased range in the face of 12x R-77-1 - Dev Server “Hornet’s Sting” / General Discussion - Dev Server - War Thunder — official forum

So a few more updates on the Rafale changes.

The Rafale has drag reduced but thrust slightly reduced at lower altitudes and thrust increased at higher altitudes. The SPECTRA also got K-band for its RWR although the RWR should be lowered down to C band as well. The RBE2 radar is now finally able to track 40 targets instead of 12, no longer will a target disappear off of a radar just because too many things are being tracked. The RBE2 is also now capable of tracking targets outside of its scan zone, so the radar will maintain track of targets outside of the scan zone if it has been picked up. The RBE2 radar also now has a 140 degree scan option as Ares has mentioned.

The Rafale is now capable of Mach 1.3+ supercruise. The jury is out however if the Rafale got increased sustain turn rate as well from the supercruise/drag changes. Visual changes to the model is also shown for the FSO.

The MICA EM’s notch sector was reduced significantly through the narrowed beam, but this also could mean that the MICA EM will need a little bit more help finding a target with long range launches.

More changes still need to come as not all reports are actioned, and more reports will need to be made.

Does this mean it will now be more difficult to notch than the other ARHs such as the AIM-120?

Correct, theoretically it will be the hardest to notch missile in the game as it will have 7.0 degree beamwidth with angle-gating compared to other ARHs such as AIM-120 currently with 15.0 degree beamwidth. But this could/would also mean at very long ranges the MICA EM should have more difficulty finding a target if you’re not supporting it with your radar as the beam became smaller. This would also mean the beam is unlikely to lock onto the wrong target as well, including something like chaff.

Was the rafale always auto tracking with his tv sensor ?

Spoiler

Nope, before it was not. But it should still do this in TWS which it does not currently. It’s important we have this modeled because the TV sensor should be able to fire a missile. This way if a target decides to notch your radar, the TV camera will still remain locked onto the target and guide your MICA.

The TV sensor is also reported to be able to have 40km range. This also means that when you lock a target with TV/Radar in the future, it will not be able to defeat the MICA within 40km.

that’s… that’s a MICA IR???

Yup

It’s not really a new model tho, isn’t it ?

so you got the files for that… does that mean we can expect it soon?

There is no config blk yet, I personally don’t expect it. New RBE2-AESA and MICA EM (as well as possible oither) changes will make the Rafale perform quite a bit better than it already does on Live Server now.

Rafale’s TWS mode does now slave the camera:

Great! I can differentiate a dead target and actual target now.

Rafale can now cruise at Mach 1.10 on the deck, no more needing afterburner on the deck. Another worthy mention is that in matches where I normally hit Mach 1.6 before launching missiles, I’m now hitting Mach 1.8.
