Idk why they’re bothering with all these changes and still not letting us use radar and irst at the same time like many modern planes do irl, and it displays everything still.
Im just impressed they added external and removal IRST pods. like FLIR + Tpods breaking stuff, I was expecting external IRST to do the same to radars
Let’s be real, it would be better to display IRST info just like a regular radar (top down view), and maybe even use some basic sensor fusion to display everything on the one radar screen, with different color scheme for each sensor.
Wouldn’t have to push sensor fusion more than that to already make it much better
sure, if IRST can range every target without locking
Su30 and rafale then. They have LRF to range distance to the enemy
even the Mig-29 and Su-27 have a LRF for that
Basically everyone but PIRATE derivative users then, unless they use the pod that can perform IRST tasks as well
PIRATE can range targets, and LITENING V also has air to air modes.
Don’t you need 3 other eurofighters for pirate ranging for triangulation?
No you need the EFT with PIRATE to perform a maneuver.
Elaborate on the litening
Passive ranging only under special maneuvers. I don’t see how you could correctly implement that in a top down view.
B scope yeah.
I was talking with next to no sensor fusion aside from slapping the B scope radar and IRST together. With the necessity to maneuver every so often to get somewhat accurate ranging (roughly 20% drift between the calculated and real ranging if I remember correctly), the only way a B scope using Pirate would be using the sensor fusion with the radar itself.
Or the EFT consortium somehow developed some magic technology that no one is aware of
PIRATE while in detection mode can provide bearing updates to radar tracks. You don’t need full MTT for all tracks. PIRATE is advertised as part of the Sensor Fusion process for EFT, that be odd if it offered nothing to the process.
Yeah I’m not denying that. I was just suggesting a rather crude implementation of B scope for IRST. Devs have largely not implemented any form of sensor fusion with the radar.
Obviously, if they decide to implement it in a more realistic ways then obviously the EFT would be able to use IRST on B scope (along with the radar at least).
It does make me wonder how the IRST is displayed in the EFT when the radar is off, since I don’t see using qa B scope being very reliable
Also hang on, the LRF for non passive ranging systems how many targets is it even simultaneously ranging and how often is it even getting range for target?
