That could be said for every mechanic that is reported as missing, who knows how long it’ll take for them to be modeled. Might be important though if they want to have realistic naval warfare gameplay in the future.

So it does seem like the mechanic already exists in-game then, just not yet applied to Ashms.

What kind of buff?

Yup, MICA got nice big hefty buffs in every area. I’ll go over the change soon.

Changes to MICA:

  • MICA became lower caliber size (Lower drag while flying and turning as a consequence)
  • MICA itself became lower drag as well
  • MICA became Mach 4.5 topspeed instead of Mach 4
  • MICA got reduced thrust-vectoring but increased fin turning capability.
  • Increased loft
  • Increased range
  • Increased acceleration but reduced burntime

MICA should be better in every category now, when it comes to acceleration, maneuverability, and range.

Range is better, maneuvrability is better, time to target is better. That’s quite nice.
Altthough TVC got “nerfed” with it’s max angle, the sheer added thrust + better fin means the TVC is actually better (and non TVC maneuvrability as well due to the fin). The TVC nerf was I guess to prevent the missile from spinning out, it seems that it is quite succeptible to spinning out currently in extreme situations (180 shots)

Hopefully @viridiano can post a video comparing old and new mica in long-range shots when he has time.

Best thing about these new MICA changes is that the MICA-IR is now set for the future and the MICA-NG now has a very good foundation to work on in the future.

Now that we’re getting Exocet, MICA changes, and radar air to surface mode, maybe now we can start pushing for ESM and SCALP.

It seems to be much faster and keep it’s speed a lot better as well. It went for about 35-40km and was still supersonic at the end.
I noticed how it did not oscillate either but this might only be because i’m in test drive. I’ll need to check more

Ok a small test in a random lobby (only 2 players but technically still server) The range is a loooot better. Oscillations are basically removed, and the TVC is still insane. Poor J10…

MICA is holding speed very well with such a short motor boost.

Seems that the MICA still has it’s hard capped 50km distance traveled which is not correlated to battery life. I still don’t know why it’s the case, but it doesn’t really matter for the current in game performance

MICA is much more realistic now than it used to be, but it’s just not quite there yet. It’s 5 steps forward and one step back, it hits a lot of the realistic performance metrics but no longer hits one certain performance metric anymore.

44km~ 4km altitude mach 1.3 shot

mach 0.8 off rail shot, the target was around 650m away laterally

Could it be overtuned? Maybe they aren’t accounting for fin drag properly, especially in turns

I looked into what they changed on the MICA engine

They kept the same Isp of 240s but reduced the fuel mass from 41,9 kg to 33 kg or a Δv of ≈1120 m/s to ≈800 m/s.

if we put the original fuel mass/Δv, the thrust needs to be increased from 25,9 kN to 32,8 kN.

But the question is, do we have any data about the fuel mass and Isp or is it a guessing game to match known scenarios?
