Also they stated it’s confirmed that JSOW will get reduced RCS this year, so hopefully they’ll add SCALP/Storm-Shadow and Taurus this year.

RCS is being reduced for multiple munitions, stealth munitions like JSOW however will be even harder to detect. Proper RCS modelling will come later this year.

In reality, modern small-caliber air-to-ground missiles, especially those that employ stealth measures, are a very difficult target for air defense systems, so we decided to implement this aspect of aerial warfare as well. Whilst, this isn’t a full implementation of RCS for munitions yet, the effect will be similar for the AI air defense systems. They will now “detect” and engage small-caliber munitions (GBU39/GBU53, etc.) from much shorter ranges, and for stealth munitions (currently only JSOW), the range will be even shorter. So these bombs will now make much more practical sense in Nuclear Escalation. As I already said, this is more of a “pseudo-RCS” for Escalation. Full implementation of RCS for munitions will take some time, but it’s in our plans for this year.

However, yea I hope modern cruise missiles are also coming, for most if not all Nations.

Finally, that will be useful for sure. By the way, do wagers work in nuclear thunder? I’m having something in mind for my Super Etendard

It seems that with all the new mechanisms they have planned, SCALP would be amazing, and it seems they have nerfed ARMs significantly placing more emphasis on something like SCALP to have better effectiveness in the future.

According to others JSOW seems to be slipping through all defenses with minimal effort with its reduced RCS while it doesn’t have terrain following, while ARMs seem to be ineffective with long range launches (SAMs now turn off radar when it detects long-range launches) leaving things like SCALP to be very effective in the future with long-range launches and RWR designating the target point. SCALP could be launched long-range with ESM having designated the coordinates, and enemy SAMs shutting off radar wouldn’t do anything to dissuade it.

It doesnt have “reduced RCS” currently in-game. BVVD already said that wasnt in the cards right now and was a future plan. The reason its not being targeted is because, from what I can tell from the datamines, they adjusted the AI targeting to make them unable to target the AGM-154.

Previous targeting that would catch AGM-154, as per attached comment:

Current targeting:

ie: They did the exact thing I said would be stupid

As it currently stands, SCALP would fall in the priority 400 basket and be targeted just fine. They’ve have to once again adjust the targeting baskets to make it fall outside of them, which in turn would make it untargetable, which as I stated, would be stupid.

That being said, yes, stealthy cruise missiles could/would be interesting to have in this mode, but they either wouldnt work in the mode, or would be unhealthy for the mode until they can be targeted and engaged under some circumstances. If SCALP was made untargetable like JSOW currently is, it would just be a similar thing to the Kh-31PD from the last run of the event, where all long range GBAD systems would die in the first 5-10min. If they werent, itd just be useless and wouldnt never manage to hit anything until you did all the SEAD work ahead of time anyways.

Okay that makes more sense. I’ll wait and see what happens further with JSOW as well.

I think what is needed is to have buildings with different levels of “resistance”. So to destroy certain building you need to hit it with a perticular kind of weapon, i.e, something like Storm Shadow, or a bunker buster GBU, etc etc.

So the use of the Storm Shadow isnt for SEAD, but for destroying the target after SEAD. Then its just getting the balance between what can and cant engage the storm shadow.

They haven’t accurately, modelled RCS however, they have modelled it as a stealth munition.

They haven’t. You are misinterpreting the datamine, they have added a new priority 400 alongside the old priory 400. It is not replacing anything. Hence the datamine says “added one more entry to the AI target priority list”, not anything about changing or replacing a priority.

What has actually been changed is the addition of this line of code into small and stealth munitions:

“gunnerFilterMaxDistMult”: 0.3,

So basically AI can only target that munition at 0.3x the range it can target every other munition. Here is the current multiplier for each munition (basically stealth get a 0.1 multiplier, small gets 0.3):

Munition Detection Mult
us_agm_154a1_jsow 0.1
us_gbu_39 0.3
us_gbu_53 0.3
il_spice_250 0.3
su_9m127 0.3
su_9m127_1 0.3
uk_brimstone_dm 0.3

So Storm Shadow / SCALP / Taurus could easily be implemented with the same mechanic.

Ty for the correction o7, I figured there was something wrong with my interpretation after a few matches earlier when I saw some 154’s get shot down
