Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance - Part 2

That would be nice if they modeled it that way so even a single Exocet can still occasionally result in a sunk ship like you said. Part of the fun of playing Russian/US planes is that it can do it all in the same mission, anti-ship, anti-land, and anti-air which can be fun even if it doesn’t necessarily result in a lot of effectiveness.

primitive forms exist (although it will mostly skim at a set altitude and not really avoid/follow terrain), but in-general, your statement holds true, no terrain following yet

I launched 6 multiple times across multiple games with all intercepted, but maybe I got unlucky I suppose.

Doesn’t SCALP have jamming systems as well as L-O features? Current conflict that shall not be named has produced footage of SCALP flying over a Pantsir system and they could not engage it despite having a lock; their missiles just went haywire every time they tried.

The LO features are confirmed, the jamming systems being on-board isn’t confirmed as far as I can see.

There is a reason why It can carry only one Exocet ?
The main Reason that I have heard is that Marine National do not like the idea to probably have an unbalaced aircraft for landing if there is stil one missile under one the wing.

Even if you had issues with that, a proper ESM mode would still allow you to slave the target point to the ESM sources, mark aiming point at each SAM site through the slaved target point, and then go low and close, and fire the AASMs even behind cover.

This is utterly idiotic, to a completely new level even for you.

“To make sure the Rafale remains the best, I think it should get a ramjet powered nuclear missile, it’ll totally be balanced cuz it can only carry one at a time!”

On this point, I think it should come to Nuclear Escalation, but gaijin REALLY needs to start limiting aircraft functions and weapons in ground battles. ESM in general should never have been added to aircrafts in ground battles as it completely removes the only bit of skill expression left for SPAA players in their ability to hide in unexpected locations on the already ridiculously small maps we unfortunately are forced to play on. That or MP should be entirely removed from surface vehicles to give them a fair shot against modern jets.

This is an understandable initial reaction, but there has to be some caveats stated. This wouldn’t happen unless Gaijin first added air to ground nuclear cruise missiles for the US/RU, and that the future landscape is much more different than it is now and would be more of a endgame addition. The future landscape would look like something where the red side would contain batteries of S-350, S-400, S-500 , and etc. and other NATO aircraft counterparts even with conventional weapons would be able to overwhelm a GBAD site with munitions being spammed.

In fact, I could see US spam of munitions from one aircraft overwhelming a GBAD with a 100% success rate deleting a whole site while the ASMP would get shot down over half of the time. Even currently the KH-31PD’s success rate is somewhat less than half against the current battery of SPAA.

In that case the ASMP would be more of a gamble than conventional counterparts while only offering the same amount of destruction as the conventional counterparts if successful (deleting one site).

This should 100% be the case and should have been done a very long time ago. I don’t understand why multi-vehicle SAMs are a step-down in comparison to its predecessors when tackling helis or multipathing aircraft.

This is what you’re arguing about btw

Except the Rafale has 6 guided bombs to decoy air defences as well?
And the IR guided SPICE 250 are kinda meh, cant launch above Mach 1 and cant pre load coordinates with the new system either and the seeker has a limited range meaning you have to get close, slow and have to take your time to launch each bomb individually, IMO GBU39 are more effective in DEAD.
If it didnt have a nuke the ASMP would be fine to add as a normal payload, but with it is a little strong and honestly bad for the game, dropping a nuke should be and feel challenging.

Gunjob demonstrates a good job on how to oversaturate and destroy a whole SAM site with just SPICE-250s. You don’t have to get close or use the IR seeker, you can just use the point mode to destroy the targets which are stationary. You can use the GBU-39s or GBU-53s both in the same way.

Yes it does have 6 additional guided bombs, but it isn’t going to decoy the air defenses at all compared to the ASMP which would arrive far ahead of time before the other 6 bombs. By the time the ASMP is defeated, they have plenty of time to focus on the 6 bombs, or if the ASMP hits and destroys the target, your bombs on the way there are useless anyway.

Even before the ASMP has any place in the game, I’d imagine we’d see more additions of conventional weapons that would outshine the current conventional loadouts let alone the ASMP.

In the endgame scenario where we see more longer ranged and sophisicated anti-radiation missiles like AARGM-ER, more longer-ranged and sophisicated air to ground missiles, more longer ranged and sophisicated air to air missiles like Meteor, R-37M, PL-15, I don’t see how anyone would bother playing F-16s or Russian equivalent with freefall nuclear bombs and having to go up against S-350s, S-400s, and also getting shot down regularly by someone that’s 100km away with their long range air to air missile. At that point I can see the ASMP having a place in the game even in a normal payload in the future.

Your chart is slightly wrong.
Under the Asmp you should include slightly more than just GBAD destruction.
Well you know, it’s a nuke.

But nukes on nuclear thunder currently just destroy batteries/sites, no? A specific radius of targets are affected, it isn’t map wide wipes implemented in-game as it is.

ASMP is 300 KT tbh

So it would do more than the standard 5KT (?) used in the event

ASMP A has a variable yield that can go down to 100kt

Never though of using them like that lol

A bit of a double standard, as it is the same with the AGM-88C

I think it is just to early to talk about this, as your I think your argument builds on a future vision of the game that may or may not actually happen

Fair to point it out, if I ever redo the image, I’ll include the 6 AASMs.

To be fair, one could go fully pessimistic and just conclude that there’s nothing guaranteeing the game will continue operating tomorrow. I think it’s a safe bet to say that we’ll see advancements in weaponry and technology in this game mode.

There’s 30 kiloton yield in-game and these bombs currently are untargetable by AI SAM. ASMP could be made targetable.

No no, you don’t get it.
The 30kT is the bomb that destroy airfields in one go.
ASMP is at least 3,3, or at best 10 times stronger than it.

You are NOT killing SPAA with it.

You are killing THE WHOLE MAP with it.

To compare it to present in ground battles bombs.

British 12 000lb bomb has 6,3T of TNTe

ASMP at least 100 000T of TNTe
