Best thing about these new MICA changes is that the MICA-IR is now set for the future and the MICA-NG now has a very good foundation to work on in the future.

Now that we’re getting Exocet, MICA changes, and radar air to surface mode, maybe now we can start pushing for ESM and SCALP.

It seems to be much faster and keep it’s speed a lot better as well. It went for about 35-40km and was still supersonic at the end.
I noticed how it did not oscillate either but this might only be because i’m in test drive. I’ll need to check more

Ok a small test in a random lobby (only 2 players but technically still server) The range is a loooot better. Oscillations are basically removed, and the TVC is still insane. Poor J10…

MICA is holding speed very well with such a short motor boost.

Seems that the MICA still has it’s hard capped 50km distance traveled which is not correlated to battery life. I still don’t know why it’s the case, but it doesn’t really matter for the current in game performance

MICA is much more realistic now than it used to be, but it’s just not quite there yet. It’s 5 steps forward and one step back, it hits a lot of the realistic performance metrics but no longer hits one certain performance metric anymore.

44km~ 4km altitude mach 1.3 shot

mach 0.8 off rail shot, the target was around 650m away laterally

Could it be overtuned? Maybe they aren’t accounting for fin drag properly, especially in turns

I looked into what they changed on the MICA engine

They kept the same Isp of 240s but reduced the fuel mass from 41,9 kg to 33 kg or a Δv of ≈1120 m/s to ≈800 m/s.

if we put the original fuel mass/Δv, the thrust needs to be increased from 25,9 kN to 32,8 kN.

But the question is, do we have any data about the fuel mass and Isp or is it a guessing game to match known scenarios?

If mica vl and mica are the same missile why did they say mica vl starts production later? It seems like MIca vl could have a bigger or stronger motor

We know that deltaV is aroud 1000m/s iirc from a report by @Macron-Spokesman. But the reduced burn time is indeed correct

MICA VL was the cheap way of french air force to recycle MICAs that could not fly any longer by using them as airfield protection in the form of VLS SAM

It’s the same missile that you put in a tube, literally.
The system to hold them started production later, but the missiles already existed

With the NG variant though, they planned to produce missiles for both aircrafts and SAM afaik

MICA VL is identical to MICA, that’s the main point of the platform

My calcul doesn’t care about burn time and i agree 3sec is correct from what i found.

for a Δv of 1000 m/s the fuel mass would be 38,5kg and a thrust of 30,2 kN

they put it at 3.0s, not 3.5s quite yet

We do, but they declared the only available source that talks about the fuel mass, isp, and delta-v as classified and shut down any reports about it, straight up deleting the reports so you can’t even see it anymore.

Oh, wasn’t that the docs you could find at a public library but they considered it restricted ?
