Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance - Part 2

go back to the message i replied to originally

Ah yeah true, it comes down to the fact I read:

instead of

I read your message too fast, my bad
Yeah the French Rafale definitely shouldn’t get foreign weapons
The game will be boring if everyone gets everything (already half happening lol)

Mulatu finally got back to me

I’ll go through both sources and see if I can post them here soon.

So that would put the duty cycle at around 10%, and confirms that the 9.6 kW reported in that news article a while back is probably about right.

Interestingly an average power of 1,000 W (or possibly 960 W if we take peak power to be 9.6 kW and assume average is also being rounded up similarly) isn’t that much more than the RDY (800 W) and is quite a bit less than CAPTOR-M (1,250 W).

Also ~1,000 seems like a slightly generous interpretation of 838.

Thx ya :D

Considering the range of the RBE2 is far less than captor, that makes sense in this case.

RBE2 PESA’s range is less than CAPTOR-M, but I thought the AESA was meant to heave a fairly decent range increase compared to PESA.

True, tho, afaik, the ranges increase of 50% is claimed on some modes, but it’s not precised which modes.

It’s claimed 50%+ radar range, with up to 100% for some radar modes (in particular certain air to air ones).

Yes, several sources prior to the RBE2-AA’s introduction had predicted “around 1,000 T/R” and left it at that. Specific numbers as you know, had been short of that.

1 ton hammer doesn’t look slow at all in test footage. So why are the 250’s so slow ingame?
Especially if the speed of the aircraft when launching is also figured into the equation.

just realised the sled has boosters nevermind.
so unless the sled’s boosters are 1-1 thrust of the aasm’s booster, disregard.

It’s simply cool test footage.

The sled boosters is supposed to mimic being launched and fired from a plane anyway, so that’s what you see. And allegedly the 1 ton variant has a bigger booster than the 250kg variant.

properly also determined by the platforms launching it

like the F35 that is undetected might start to get detected when a Very fast missile shows up on radar

That is true. AFAIK, modern ships also have very very strong IRSTs that can also detect missiles and supersonic missiles would have strong heat points as well.

True, although considering the ranges we are talking about, having an Awacs or additional F35s for targetting while the launchers stay under the horizon the entire time seems even sneakier

31 more Rafale M for India potentially.

So right now : 114 + 31 + 26 + 36 (-1) = 207 (206) for India making it clearly the second operator of the Rafale.

Compared to around 234 ~+ currently in orders for France.

Otherwise Neuron will be 10t empty weight.

What’s the -1 for? The one lost in Pakistan?

Not in pakistan but yeah pretty much it.
