Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance - Part 2

Isn’t the AIM-120C-7 25km in vertical launch? The MICA NG EM is stated by MBDA to be just over 40km in vertical launch.

This puts the MICA NG more in the realm of the current implementation of IRIS-T SLM’s range. It could be that the MICA NG is in the AIM-120C’s range in air to air because of battery limitation, than kinetic limitation.

SLM can’t even go 20km.

Absolute max range of aim 120a is 125km. Ground launch is not necessarily the same as air launched, I think @Flame2512 has the docs on hand, tho 60 nm m/110 km is the easier value to explain if I remember right.
Aim 120a and c-5 battery life is 80 seconds

Stop the cap, 20km is around its kinetic NEZ range, atleast prior to the seeker nerf.

Also we don’t have max range for 120c5, im extrapolating it from aim 120a max range.

Right, and comparing maximum aerodynamic ranges from air launched maximum ranges is much more difficult than extrapolating it from ground launch ranges which have more controlled factors. (Such as ground launch altitude and zero speed launch).

Do you have the vehicle?

Yo bring this to the fox 3/fox 2 thread, don’t wanna derail further

That is not even close to scale. I’ve seen gunjob post stuff that states the nez for meteor is 100km let alone max range

Def not close to scale, I didn’t use any measuring stuff, just wanted to showcase the different missiles being available, all could be used at once

Oh it’s not official? I thought it was lmao.
Nice graphic then mate if u made it urself

Thanks, I did edit and write a warning on it that it’s not to scale.

the weight increase/size difference is much more with the R77M iirc.

Yeh that’s true, I should’ve only compared to I derby er that actually retained its original size.

Possibly the first pictures of a Rafale B and C F.4.2 for the french Air Force - nothing official yet though, also still missing Squadron IDs.

Does 4.2 bring anything interesting other than ng micas?

Besides MICA NG, nothing game relevant that I am aware of currently.

Considering advanced Datalink / Satellite Coms and Cyberprotection wont become a thing in WT…

TBH for long range you go meteor

MICA NG is nice because of the new sensors (mainly the AESA seeker and a pretty nasty IIR sensor for the infrared version)
