I really would have wanted the JF-17 to be a premium. I’d have probably preordered it.
But as a Squadron Vehicle it’s just not worth it for me.
Releasing the J-10 without a new top tier premium for china to grind it with (at least in our knowledge so far) seems like a huuuuge missed opportunity.
It would have to be severely limited to be brought in line with the other 11.7-12.0 planes though. So it would probably lose the ARH missiles at the very least.
Well… Canberra B.2 has been in the game for almost 10 years… Buccaneer S.2 is a bit less - almost 4. In any case, Gaijin’s statement is meaningless.
To do this, we need to look at other examples of unarmed subsonic bombers that I cited above, the Canberra and Buccaneer.
Canberra B.2. - Buccaneer S.2. - Vulcan B.2 (Black Buck variant) (data taken from the site “baesystems.com”)
Maximum speed - 880 km/h - 1,166 km/h - 1,037 km/h
Maximum load - 6,000 lbs - 16,000 lbs - 21,000 lbs
Thrust-to-weight ratio with minimum load - 0.48 - 0.65 - 0.78
BR - 8.3 ARB, 7.7 ASB - 9.3 - 8.7/9.0
Yes, I previously assumed its BR in the region of 8.3, but after comparing it I realized that I was “a little” wrong.
Why then is it lower than the Buccaneer, although it has a better load and thrust-to-weight ratio? Because of the maximum speed. I put it at BR, or slightly higher, than another thrust-to-weight aircraft with a low maximum speed - the Javelin.
If Buccaneer is one of the fastest aircraft of its BR on the ground, then Vulcan should be the same, but at altitude. But yeah, hello aptier, hello Starfighters, hello hangar. But in ASB it should be easier. At conditional 8.7 you still need to find a plane that can easily jump to 10 km and accelerate there to more than 1050 km/h to catch up with Vulcan.
It’s not in line with the other 11.7-12.0 planes.
It’s in line with the F-20 Tigershark.
That is 12.7. So it wouldn’t be impossible to think there’d be a 13.0 or 13.3 Premium.
That is indeed possible, the earliest iteration in terms of Super 7s are only armed with PL-5B/C/E and Pl-11s alongside with unguided munitions could be a good choice for 12.0 ish China - a BR that China indeed lacks in air battles.
So long as it isn’t just a copy paste of an F-16 and is unique enough I think it would be fine. Something like the F-16XL or YF-16 I think could work but knowing Gaijin we will just get an F-16A but can take SARH’s like the ADF.
