Damn... Not even the Rettungsboje (Background item in naval maps) is safe from international rules

In recent datamines several aircraft lost their red cross symbols that indicate the location of a first aid kit (I’m pretty sure the devs missed the premium Do 335).

Datamines from gszabi:

2.45.0.21 → 2.45.0.22 Ar 196 A-5, Bf 109 C-1, Bf 109 E-3, Bf 109 E-7 [JPN], Bf 109 E-7/U2, Bf 109 F-4, Bf 109 F-4 [ITA], Bf 109 G-2 (Tp), Bf 109 G-2 [ITA], Bf 109 G-6, Bf 109 G-10, Bf 109 G-14/AM, Bf 109 K-4, Bf 110 C-6, Bf 110 C-7, Bf 110 F-2, BV 155 B-0, C. 202 VII [DEU], Do 217 E-2, Do 217 J-1, Fw 190 A-5, Fw 190 A-5/U12, Fw 190 D-9, Fw 190 D-12, Fw 190 F-8, Ju 87 B-2, Ju 87 D-3, Ju 88 A-4, Ju 88 C-6, NC.900, Ro.57bis, Strikemaster Mk. 88, Ta 152 H-1: small red cross removed from the fuselage on several skins

SA 341 F, SA 342 M: red cross changed to green in the cockpit

But I wasn’t expecting the Rettungsboje (Rescue Bouy) to be a victim of this.

There’s been a trend in games removing red crosses due to laws, I was just a taking back by this niche background item being altered.

Such a silly bloody rule/law especially to the point it effects such a niche item.

Not a post calling for it to be rechange (never going to happen), but just an annoying sad observation, so what are everyone’s thoughts on this loss.

Edit:
@Stona, this was posted in general discussion for a reason, a Rettungsboje isn’t really a machine, more of a life pod designed for downed airmen or those from a sucken ship crew.

Hell if we’re sticking it in the machinery of war section it might as well go in aviation due to the number of aircraft mentioned vs the one MGB in picture five (ntm it’s a background assist with no in game ability to be used, unless you want it submitted as a playable platform).

The Red Cross by the ICRC is protected under Geneva Convention and IP law.

If the game wants to stay active in any country that recognizes the Geneva Convention and Intellectual Property rights it may not be used. There are other depictions of medical symbols that is released under public domain that may be used.

yeah, you would need to licence it, even if it’s historically accurate.

I get this & I’ve noticed this for quite a few games so far, this post was a joking observation for such a niche historical item after news of them being removed. Hell this has become a meme in the gaming world of being “Geneva’ed” with the removal of symbols.

I wonder “what if” will happen next in the lines of replacing crosses, will scale models one day be effected? No more 1:300 HMHS Britannic heh heh (this last bit is meant as a joke yet I’m terrible at sarcasm).

yeah, dude, it’s a violation of the Geneva Convention.

nope, cant license it, only reason johnson and johnson can use it is because they began using it before a certain date IIRC and that made them exempt from it

It was not red, looked more like orange
Sad that it got removed though

You don’t say… The post was an observation of the change.

Still an absolutely stupid reason in any case (No I’m not debating it, these are just my thoughts).
