Hey @Smin1080p_WT Given the armour rework for the Scimmie has opened a new armour hole over the NVDs, could we get the NVD door closed? Just to provide a lil more amour in the area.
Also ask Smin if he can tell the devs they messed it up and made the turret armour line of sight equivalent thickness instead of constructional thickness.
Is there any possibility to improve FV107s mobility further? I still find its mobility strange
It sometimes even cannot overtake Leo1 or other “fast” MBTs although its hp-to-weight ratio is noticeably higher.
Hello mate. I have some very good news for you. A few months back i made a bug report relating to exactly this.
When the update goes live the top speed of the Scimitar (and striker) will become 54mph or 86kph. it will see a slight improvement across most terrain from the tweaked gearing to achieve this
Thank you for the effort you put into this.
Unfortunately, after test, this has caused almost no significant improvement :(((
Testdrive ringline time spend from 2:51 to 2:48 personal skill interference not excluded
No matter what, thank you again for the effort you have made
Yep, that looks like 1.5 in to me.
youre welcome, im glad others appreciate the tank. The Scorpion/Scimitar/Sabre is my favourite tank, i couldnt leave it how it was.
its not big. but if you use the cruise control mode where it sits in 6th gear it is quite a bit better.
the main things now is double differential steering (instead of clutch braking) and for the suspension travel to be sorted.
I really like this tank; it looks very harmonious and aesthetically pleasing :)
Additionally,I heard that they might launch Sabre in June, will it have an LRF or a thermal imager?I noticed that the spotlight position on the left side of the Sabre seems to have been replaced by a box.It seems that all later models of Scimitar are equipped with this device. What exactly is this device?
Sabre is all but confirmed in name as the next ground event vehicle.
Its a Scorpion hull (identical to Scimitar) but uses a turret from a FV721 Fox, it wont have a LRF or thermals but should have a little more gun depression where the hull allows.
most notable difference between the scimitar and sabre is the “collar” where there was a turret ring conversion so the turret could marry to the hull.
im not sure i understand what you mean. the sabre we get is from later into the CVRTs service where more stowage boxes were installed around the hull. but there isnt any special gadgets to note for sabre.
We could see the night sight box (the box next to the gun) replaced with a later improved sight with integrated thermals and LRF though, however this could only be seen on exported scorpions to countries like malaysia and late service scimitars (britain can get a couple scimitars with such sights)
Oh,the thing I mean is that night sight box.
So they won’t add night sight devices?not all vehicles manufactured have this device?
the Scorpion family is just below gaijins’ made-up threshold for when they will add IR night sights. all the CVRT/W vehicles should have NVDs but they arent modelled sadly.

Well, it seems that my machine translation has caused me some understanding difficulties. I am not a native English speaker, please forgive me.So this device is not a thermal imager, just a night vision device, and not all vehicles in service in the UK are equipped with it?
I understand, translators arent very reliable when going from English to simplified chinese.
on basic CVRTs its not thermal vision. its standard night vision.
There were later upgrades that did introduce thermal sights and LRFs
Scimitars, Sabres, Foxes, and Scorpions were originally manufactured with an Image Intensifier telescope (night vision sight) in the armoured box next to the main gun. When the night sight wasn’t in use, the door on the front was kept closed to prevent physical damage as well as preventing the sensor from being damaged by exposure to bright light (it’s for using in the dark after all). You very rarely see it being opened in photographs, and ingame there is actually no good reason for it to be open since the vehicles aren’t allowed to use night vision at their BR.
Fox, Sabre and Scorpion have all been retired from the British armed forces so they had the Image Intensifier (NV) telescope for the duration of their service. However, Scimitar remained in service for a couple more decades, and had its night fighting equipment modernised with thermal imaging periscopes since the latter half of the 1990s. After 2005, pretty much all Scimitars serving in the British Army had a Thermal Imager.
The thermal imagers (and laser range finder) in Scimitar are part of the gunner’s sight periscope on top of the turret - they’re not in the armoured box next to the gun.
The old Image Intensifier (NV) telescope that used to be in the box is removed on Scimitars that have thermal imager periscopes. This is because the TI periscope can see at night anyway, so the NV telescope is no longer needed, and because the NV telescope takes up too much room inside the turret and didn’t fit when the much larger Thermal Imaging periscope was installed.
So day or night, the armoured box is closed on a modern Scimitar because there’s no sight behind the door.
The version of Scimitar currently in War Thunder is modelled as a Scimitar from the years before the Thermal Imaging periscope was installed. So if it had night-fighting equipment it would be night vision, not thermal imaging - but it doesn’t have working NV because of its BR.
There are models of other versions of Scimitar that were leaked as being potential future additions to the game, that do have thermal imaging persiscopes on the model. But they are not released yet.
Alright, it seems to be my mistake. I thought the box with the warning sign in those pictures (including the Sabre picture above) was another type of night vision device, but it sounds like it is actually the same device as the one in the game that resembles a spotlight, just with the lid closed.
