HISTORY
The CV90 - Combat Vehicle 90 is a family of Swedish designed and produces infantry fighting vehicles, they were developed as during the cold war area the Swedish army required vehicles with high mobiliy with the option to fight armored vehicles and combat aerial vehicles, it was also demanded to have high survivability and reliability. It was designed in the 1980’s by the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), Hägglund & Söner and Bofors, the vehicle firstly entered service of the Swedish army in the mid-1990’s.
Denmark leased one CV9040B in 2001/2 wich they used as an reference vehicle as the Danish army were originally looking to upgrade their older Pansret maskinkanon M/92, “Armored Auto Cannon M/92”. After the testing of the vehicle, the idea of upgrading these vehicles were abandoned when the army in 2004 introduced the IKK - “InfanteriKampKjøretøyer” programme. In this programme there were among other thinks said that Denmark were going to lease a couple CV90 variants to evaluate, however i don’t know if this ever happened, as it might just have been a group of Danish crewmembers testing the vehicle in Sweden, i am working on this but it ended up with the procurement of the CV90305 variant wich was delivered from 2007 and onwards.
All images are of the Trialed CV9040B in Denmark at HKS - Hærens Kampskole garages in Oksbøllejren. The vehicle has a Danish flag painted on both sides of the turret, to my knowlegde this, in addition to some other minor marks/numbers are the only changes to the vehicle.
IN GAME
In game this could be a very cool premium/squadron vehicle, but it would only be if Denmark is added in an potential Danish/Norwegian techtree or if for some reason Denmark was added to another Nation.
