HISTORY
The Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace is one of three companies under the Kongsberg group and is a continuation of Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk. Kongsberg makes products for both defense and aerospace, and has over a number of years developed a number of very successful products such as the Naval Strike Missiles, Penguin ASW to mention a few and the market leading protector series, featuring multiple families of remote controlled weapon stations and turrets , which countries all over the world have already started integrating on their vehicles and vessels even.
As a result of constant development and new ideas and to get new customers, they regularly have demonstrations where they show potential. This cart is one of many different! This is then a Norwegian CV90 MulitC (Multi carrier) which can be used as a mortar carrier, minesweeper or other purposes. A little while ago, this got a Kongsberg Protector Remote Turret 6 with a 30mm XM914 cannon mounted as a result of a demonstration, where they were supposed to test various combinations. This took place at Kongsberg defense and aerospace’s own private shooting range located at Hengsvann in Norway. This took place in May.
Now about the hull, the CV90 MultiC, In the 1980s, Hägglund and Bofors developed a new armored personnel carrier for the Swedish defense as a replacement for a number of other types then in use. This vehicle was designated CV9040 and is currently in active use in the Swedish Armed Forces (2005). when the Norwegian Armed Forces were to acquire new armored personnel carriers in the late 1980s, the CV9040 was one of the competitors.
After a number of modifications to meet the Norwegian requirements, the CV9030 emerged, and this vehicle was chosen by the Norwegian armed forces This wagon was chosen as the new assault wagon for the cavalry in 1993. the wagon was to partially replace NM 135 wagons in the cavalry’s assault formations, but mostly they were added to the existing ones for a long time. The first wagon came to Norway in 1993 and in 1996-97 we received 3 more, the remaining 100 wagons were delivered in 1998
Norway was the very first export customer of the Mk,1 variant, followed 4 years later by Finland and Switzerland who purchased the Mk. 2. Norway is the first nation to use rubber tracks on the Mk. III. rubber tracks gives better mobility, less vibrations and noise, making the environment better for the crew and increases acceleration as well as reduce the fuel usage.
144 wagons were ordered in June 2012 and they were delivered from September 2015.
These wagons are referred to as CV90 Mk. IIIb. These have the third generation of electronic architecture, which then allows sharing of sensor data. This also provides support for integrated drones. The unmanned weapon station Protector RWS on top is the most visible change on the new and old upgraded Stormpanservogner
Out of the 144 ordered wagons there were multiple variants, here are those:
-74 armored personnel carriers
-21 reconnaissance vehicles (Vingtags II)
-15 battle management vehicles
-16 storm engineer wagons
-16 Multi Carrier wagons
-2 training carts
This specific carriage seen in the pictures i attached, have been used for various testing’s, and judging out of the decal/emblem we can see on the side, witch is the Rievassat tells us this has been used in testing drones earlier. I haven’t managed to fully find out if this turret has lock on target tracking, but i am quite sure it does considering it is meant to take out UAV’s too, in game it could be used as both a SPAA and a light tank.
IN GAME
This would definitely be a unique and fun vehicle, a great addition to the game and to the tree it would be added to, it can function bot as anti air and and against lighter tanks. It is remote controlled and has great flexibility combined with good mobility of the light multi carrier hull.
