Curtiss Kittyhawk Mk.IA: The Same Aircraft, Now Under Lend Lease!

THEY ARE. If they add the Kittyhawk Mk ia I hope for an RNZAF skin that would rock it

I can understand when it comes to lend lease people not liking these aircraft in the british (or any other allied nations) tree as they technically werent bought.

However first of all, Not all Kittyhawks, Tomahawks, Mustangs and many others were lend lease instead actually ordered/bought for the british, and in cases like the Mustang, the British actually used the aircraft BEFORE the americans (the airframes trialed by the USAAF were diverted from the british order of mustang MK.Is)

And second of all, these aircraft were used in such massive numbers that it makes sense to be in the tech tree, these aircraft played just as big of a role as the spitfire or Hurricanes did just in North Africa, and its safe to say that these aircraft were essential in winning the air war over North Africa (Just as the sherman, Lee and stuart were essential on the Ground)

The funny thing is that is already in game, both British, Australian and NZ Kittyhawks exist in game as skins of the US P-40E, and in fact the US variant just so happens to be the exact variant of the P-40E (the E-1) that was supplied through lend lease so this would be the most litteral case of Copy and paste ever as everything is already in game, the Model and the skins

that’s my bad, while I do love the P-40 I don’t play America enough to realize that.

Nah no worries, I only realised when i took the US P-40 out for a spin when i was making this suggestion in order to get a grip of how it would perform

Im honestly surprised gaijin didnt add it when they first added the UK tree considering everything was already in place for it, hell the skins even specify that they are “Kittyhawk Mk.IAs” in the description

Gaijin just hates Britain, there’s so much more they could add, like the turret fighters, Manchester, an event Beaufighter with Artemis air to air missiles etc

Yeah, my bet is that they originally planned to add it to the UK tree but either forgot, didnt have time, or decided there wasnt much space for it (Although i could easily make space simply by foldering the Spit Mk.IIB with the Mk.VBs and moving the Hurricanes over behind the early spits, but hey it is what it is)

Well objectively it’s stronger than every other low tier British fighter (I can say it is, I main Britain) so I think Gaijin just didn’t want them to have a strong fighter, especially with CAS loadout which - newsflash - any other competent British fighter at that BR lacks.

Fr tho man, I just hope we can get it in game fairly soon, I would love to see the whole curtiss line added at some point, starting with the Mohawk and ending with this (im currently bamboozled by the rest of the Kittyhawk variants and trying to figure them out) and if you havent been able to tell already I have a bit of a soft spot for the Curtiss aircraft

I’m at a bit of a mixed point here to be honest, I hate all copy pasta aircraft and tanks, and believe that they should be unique to the tree they came from, but… I do think that if it was used EXTENSIVELY then maybe…? I’m not too sure to be honest…

Meh, even if you dont want this we can still get the Mohawk IV (its different because it has 7.7 browning instead of the 7.5 french stuff, and both or at least the british should have bombs), The Tomahawk (All of them had 7.7s intead of 7.62s in the wing, and the Mk.I had two more than the american equivalent.

Also arguably the Kittyhawk Mk.I as we ordered it instead of lend lease and modified it with the 6 gun wing, so it would be a P-40D with 6 guns instead of 4 (although that is essentially just a P-40E like this)

Isn’t the Tomahawk an earlier P-40? Sorry if I got this wrong… but I would absolutely adore this aircraft, maybe 2.0?

Yes however there were some key design s
differences between the US variants, ive linked my suggestions for them in the Spoiler as im not wanting to go too off topic in this thread, Personally I would say 2.0 for the Mk.I and 2.3 for the Mk.IIB, with the MK.IIA being 2.3 as a premium.

Britain flew the Kittyhawks in the thousands, it’s silly not to include any of them.

I believe the Mk.IA is the same as the P-40E-1, so here are the characteristics as they appear in Tactical Planning Characteristics & Performance Charts, current as of 23 February 1945 alongside other variants of the P-40:

Yes, the Mk.IA is literally the P-40E-1 we have in game, so its performance will be identical to that

Having done some more research I have updated the bomb load of this and the Mk.I, it can carry a bomb of up to 1000 lbs under the fuselage and at least 2 x 500 lbs under each wing, it also appears to have a maximum bomb load of around 2000 lbs

Awesome! Now I want it even more!
