I’m not saying it should, but just that it could and I’m intrigued by whether people think it should or should not.
I will preface this by also saying the F3 Late should also have fixed BOL and at least 1x Phimat pod and of course would naturally have an increased BR (I’m thinking 13.7). But if those pre-requisites are met.
I don’t necessarily think it would be. With 320 large calibre flares from the BOL and 216-432 large calibre chaff from the phimat(s) it would be defensively sound.
Those changes should come regardless and that would put it at 13.3. so 13.7 is only a small difference in terms of BR
If the C5s are good enough, then it should be able to hold its own against the other 13.7s
Not to the current one imo. I’d rather they add another variant (F3 later :P) with C-5 and ASRAAM. Wouldn’t perform very well, as the airframe would be horribly overtired, but could at least be funny.
Spoiler
Note that I don’t play Britain, so do with my opinion what you will
Is there really a role the Tornado could fill at that BR tho? I feel like the platform would be at a similar Strenght in Bvr as the F18 just without the agile Flightmodel for closer fights and defensive flying
I think it would be fine as a premium but otherwise the flight performance of the Tornado F3 would be far too great of a difference in comparison to the AIM-120C7 to fill a tech tree role.
I vote no because whilst I do wish for the F.3 to have a decent BVR capability as it did in real life, I also want it to be fairly balanced in the game, which is why I am in favour of a much more reasonable, logical and current BR appropriate alternative.
@shum_tingwong-psn hasnt played in a while but asked me to post this on their behalf
In sim its BR doesnt allow for a downtier and is stuck facing top planes already so why not give it a more competitive missile? (If they dont decompress br’s) ive got the normal f3 for the supertemp fox 1 playstyle. Id rather not have to grind out a whole top tier plane and upgrades just to get a new fox 3 and face the same planes.*
In game, the flares are about 1/2 maybe 1/3rd the luminosity of a standard calibre flare + shorter burn time.
In reality, Its not a “flare” but a cloud of material (kinda like chaff) that ignites on contact with the air and produces a large IR signature that physically blocks the aircraft from an IIR seekers view in rear-aspect. But probably has a luminosity more comprable to a large calibre flare than a standard calibre
