So can someone just explain to me how the crew slot’s work as ive played this game a while but it still kinda confuses me, more meaning things such as shown in the screenshot where I have the Renown at level 100 with expert but if I pay say 150,000 to put it in the High tier to it only goes upto crew level 64 even with expert on that one to so your losing 40 experience points while still paying around 150,000 to crew them up to that slot but If I remember right arent you paying that to actually retrain them to that slot??
I mean the thing I switched it out for was a Light cruiser I believe where as this is a battlecruiser if that makes a difference which imo it shouldnt because your trying to crew it in to a slot and by them taking 30 points away each time you do that if you want to add it in to a different preset thats just setting your progress back again and again depending on what your switching out and how many times considering if I remember right the preset limit is 18 anyway which means if you want variety your gonna have to change them out sometime or another
No!
Each individual crew has a crew number, 1-10. Each crew represents one group of people and their ability to handle different vehicles. Each crew gains experience only from its own activity. The game treats each crew as a seperate entity.
Crew skill levels for each type of vehicle are specific to each slot.
In this case you moved the vehicle from the slot where you had level 100 on naval to the slot where you had level 64 on naval.
Acing/experting qualifications are specific to each vehicle AND slot. So you always want to use the vehicle in the same slot as much as you can, so they accrue experience in only one place.
so in short term basically if you want to transfer a hard earned level 100 crew from 1 preset to another even though your paying 150,000 to train them you will still have to fully level that new crew slot over time??
I edited in above, that is how it works. It is actually very realistic.
This never happens. You could take the HMS Renown from Cpt. Smith and his crew (#9), who was a navel genius (lvl100) and who was specifically trained on the renown (Expert silver star) and man her with Cpt. Miller (#10), who is somewhat competent (lvl62) and also specifically trained on this particular ship (Expert silver star).
Some of these steps require a one time payment: First time assignment of Miller to Renown, Expert training of Miller on Renown. From now on, you can (on the Renown) switch between Miller and Smith without further cost. If Miller takes her to battle, it is him who gets all the crew-xp for her actions.
Ty works fine now, you have no idea how many times Ive lost SL because Ive literally never thought of it working that way I always thought ohh you pay the 150,000 to retrain and it will carry the experience over hence the 150,000
Honestly If I could pin that comment I would tbf because there are probably plenty of people in the same boat as me there that that would help tons
this right here is why I never move crew slots around from the default settings. Crew 1 is always the first from the left, Crew 2 is always the second, etc. Any naval vehicle from that nation I pay to put into slot always has the same crew quality (although acing/experting may vary). Keeps it simple.
As mentioned, each slot has a separate crew and the level number indicates their “expertise” in general, not for any specific vehicle. If you move a vehicle into that slot, it will get the lvl of the slot, the vehicles do not carry that with them.
In your example, the #9 slot has a naval crew skill level of 100. When you moved the Renown to another slot, it will “inherit” the experience of the crew in the new slot. Those skills are static and remind bound to each individual slot.
As time goes by, and you get more vehicles and make more presets, you may find the need to move a vehicle from a maxed skill slot where you have it Experted or even Aced just to make a new preset and make room for another vehicle in the slot. The less you have to change stuff, the cheaper it will be on you.
Every slot has the ability to have planes(75 max), tanks(150 max) or ships(100 max) and once you have maxed a slot for one vehicle type, for example planes, every game you use that slot playing planes will still generate crew skill points and luckily we can add those in to the tank or naval skills. Whichever a player chooses. This is pretty helpful in the long run and for players that decide to play all vehicle types.
Crews and crew skills are often overlooked but can really help a player develop their account and have more success as they climb the trees.
I think getting a good basic understanding of how all that works and building up your crew skills early on is pretty important and helpful, especially for newer players.
p.s. naval crew skills affect the performance of the naval vehicles a lot more than they do in planes or tanks. Getting those skills up early will really help your naval game play.
and the yellow circled exclamation point indicates you have crew skill points available to add(I do that ANY time I see that notification) there is no good reason to wait to apply new crew skill points.
