You’re comparing two sets of heavy to a pair of mediums. Not to mention the T-44-122 has an even slower reload than the other 122s.
Compared to the TT T-44 it’s, what, got slightly less turret armour and an UFP weakspot? A .3 decrease is generous. Compare it the to T-34 and see if you don’t see the upgrades there.
It has much less armor, since it has a T-34-85 turret.
When you already have a 27s reload on IS2/KV122, what is 30s. The difference is not like ISU-122S 15s reload becoming 30s.
How can changing just the gun have wildly different BR steps?
In that case, KV-85 must be moved to 5.3 and IS-1 must be moved to 6.3.
I love when stona does ‘stona moment’ to the topic, which will burn like solar by Gaijin’s problem.
I mean if you say so
Can you blame him lol. So many dumb topics he comes across daily and has to deal with due to issues with them. Looks like an honest mistake that he fixed relatively quickly.
Maybe or Maybe not.
I just love to see ‘stona moment’ nowadays :P
Ya, guns should not be the deciding factor for br bracket placement, they are a key factors but not the only ones. I think they should monitor this t-44 with the 34-85 turret could go down to 6.0 or remain at 6.3. The issue is not the 6.3 bracket that it will have to compete against, the full up tier becomes the problem.
Sure. But the characteristics of the vehicle is still more comparable to 6.0 mediums than 6.3.
Compare it to the Panthers for example, which has better armour, more pen.
Centurions have APDS and the Israeli Shermans have 105mm HEAT that’s why they’re 6.0.
The T-44 FM is comparable by being a slightly faster Panther, but less armoured and less pen so it must rely on flanking more than Panthers.
True it has less pen than panthers and worse frontal armor, however it has a lower profile than a panther is harder to detect and can slot nicely in certain areas of maps. If its brought down to 6.0 I wont mind it, Israeli Shermans have less armor not as mobile, easier to spot and in general it is a one shot and you are done tank. That’s why they are 6.0s otherwise these 1950s tanks are super hard to fit in, they can be way to overpowering or completely useless at slightly higher brs.
I hope this T-44 performs as well as the original T-44 did back in the day.
prolly cuz it almost has the same pen as m82 aka 367
Lower profile but Panthers have better gun depression. -5 and -8 is very noticeable. It’s not that much better to justify BR step, it’s all sidegrades.
The problem with Israeli Shermans is the 400mm HEAT. Hard to bring it any lower in BR.
The prototype T-44 isn’t well armored and has lots of weak spots that even 5.0 tanks can easily exploit
The more you look at it the more it really does belong at 6.0. At least the T-44-122mm has the advantage of significantly more pen so it’s at 6.3 like the early IS-2.
If it goes down to 6.0 it will complement my KV-220 line-up nicely. For me the issue is the up tiers, they can badly affect a vehicle with T-34-85 turret and a round with about 165mm of pen at 0 degrees. I usually do not count or play 44-122mm that has a reload of " a few decades later" and after that to get a “hit” on the opponent and create a scenario of “wait, wait, wait, no, no”.
