How on earth this has not been passed to the developers yet with 444 votes at 97% approval, I do not know. Hopefully if we keep this thread active, they will notice and finally us Bomber Mains can get hope for this to arrive.
I am still waiting for the Washington B.1 to come into the game since 2013 when it was first proposed (2014 passed for suggestion before the Tu-4 would be considered, but somehow was never added).
We really need the B36, whilst playing sim battles in the B-29 the team and I all also were in agreement that a B36 would be fantastic, it looks really cool, its massive and it has a big payload; what is not to like? Also I agree with the sentiment that we need more actual bombers and not strike aircraft. It adds a good variety to the game. I am also just waiting for Gaijn to add it in because there is certainly demand for it.
The thread must be kept active if we wish to see this plane in game, also gotta say that is a fantastic video about the gun system. If this plane is added it may actually stand a chance in the current META given that it uses the same aim system but instead of 50 cal it uses 20mm cannons. I am aware that a lot of other bombers have larger caliber defensive armaments but the B-29 is pretty accurate for a bomber so that in combination with the larger caliber may actually make it survivable.
Gajin please, strategic cold war bombers in general are long overdue.
Its sad this monster is not in game. Even though early jets will slice you in two all the 20mm and if we get fire control computers early jets might have a hard time.
we can pretend all the broom sticks pretending to be cannons to be real in our heads. Each time a plane flys close you yell boom boom bang bang ra ta ta ta! And, if your lucky they will freakout and fly away.
I think you misunderstand- the B-36A had no live weapons at all. It was only used for conversion training. The B-36B is the functionally the actual first variant. Which I will once again nudge people to go support the excellent suggestion for because it has a wholehearted +1 from me!
Sorry, I am aware that the A was a training variant, by multiple variants I was refering to the addition of the B-36H, which had its full armament but upgraded sensors, the four jet engines amongst a host of improvements. The other variant they could potentially add though I personally don’t like as much is the J variant which had its armament stripped apart from the tail gun, sorry for the confusion
YB-60 has a total of 8 jet engines in 4 underwing pods (2 side-by-side powerplants in each pod).
I think he means the final B-36J production variant of the Peacemaker, which added 4 jet engines in 2 underwing pods, along with the 6 pusher-propeller engines.
