I’m not sure what the issue is but I am constantly fighting my controls in this game while playing air sim.
I’ve played flight sims for the most part of the last 20 years and I have never played a game where I have had to constantly fight the controls like I have with this game in sim battles.
Regardless of the loadout, or the aircraft, 90% of my time in flight is fighting the controls. Some aircraft are less problematic than others but regardless I am constantly have to fight the plane to get it to stabilize. And I don’t mean from a sensitivity standpoint.
Most planes, from the second they leave the ground, need an enormous, illogical amount of trim, and even that is very temporary. And I’m not talking about having to adjust trim after dropping a payload or something, I’m talking about constantly having to adjust trim without the change or delivery of a partial payload.
I’ll stop short of condemning the game, it may be me. But it is getting so bad that I’m literally concerned it may damage my HOTAS.
And yes I have calibrated my HOTAS several times. I’ve also tried other sims, such as DCS and no problem what so ever.
Of course to play sim I’m on “Full-Real Controls” with the control mode set top “relative”. I enjoy the game, I would like to continue to play but again, and I’m not exaggerating, I’m nervous that I’m going to break my VIRPIL stick.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
To avoid assuming things -
Are you working solely off of your own understanding of controls, or have you previously tried /r/warthundersim 's stickied “New Pilot Library” for guidance, or one of the sim CC’s video tutorials (e.g.: WingalingDragon), or asked in the sim LFG Discord? If you havn’t, I recommend checking out one of the recommended sources (LFG discord is linked at /r/warthundersim.) I feel this is prudent to ask as WT uses some… “alternate” terminology for some controls that may throw you off compared to say, IL-2 (sensitivity in the movement tab is “Filtering” where 100% is no filtering, 0% is heavy filtering. Having it less than 100% made my nose wobble like crazy from small-medium inputs)
As you ask about HOTAS, I cannot provide direct support but with WW2 warbirds I have not ran into any control issues you speak of. Most trim I need is ~±6% for 300 kph rudder and matching aileron occasionally. Elevator scales from ± 5%, with occasional -10 to -20% in landing flaps. Some planes feel a bit floaty (Spitfire, A63, high fuel P51D), but as you said you tried multiple aircraft so likely not what you mean.
Are you flying warbirds (assuming so due to trim) or modern jets? If modern jets, are you aware of “SAS Damping”? A lot of modern jets expect use of “SAS Damping” (Wt’s generalized, simplified implementation of fly-by-wire) and are unflyable otherwise. Presumably DCS does not let you turn off FBW at will like WT so it doesn’t come up.

No, not necessarily working off of my own understanding.
My controls are set based on research, I’m not sure of the exact person I researched but I did a considerable amount of research when setting up my controls.
No I’m not playing Warbirds,. I play jets 9.0 up.
That is outside of my territory beyond the SAS Damping comment then. Some are borderline flyable (low-vietnam), but worth confirming then and if that doesn’t do it - best of luck.

I’m aware of Damping and I use it.
I was going to mention it in my initial post but forgot.
The SAS damping helps some but it is still pretty bad
What specific aircraft are you having trouble with? I’ve recently noticed that some jets are again having issues with SAS mode. Some can autonomously yaw if you perform a turn and then return to straight flight. In that case, you have to turn SAS mode off and on again. And it’s like that every time you perform a maneuver.
Additionally, in the game, there are aircraft that fly as if they have autopilot engaged when in auto-leveling mode, and then there are others where there’s no difference whether you enable damping or auto-leveling.
Some aircraft with damping enabled can’t maintain their flight direction until they exceed a certain speed. A few planes start to climb or descend if you use the TGP view while engaging ground targets.
There are many bugs in the game that have been waiting for months or years to be fixed.

I have been concentrating on the F/A-18C Early and AV-8B (NA) but I have also played several others.
GAIJIN did not create a flight control system that is effective and available in SB mode.
So you are saying that none of the available option are truly conducive for sim?
