Consistent Game Freeze at Start of Every Match (Linux)

Same problem on stock Bazzite, 2 freezes at the start of each games that I didn’t have when I was using Windows.

The game is installed on a separate drive in an XFS partition if that matters and I use AMD for both my CPU and GPU.

Also the performances are pretty much terrible on Linux compared to windows, I had constant 170-380 fps (220 stable) and now I barely get 70-170 fps (110 stable).

Though thank you for having a Linux build, it’s really appreciated.

Happens to me as well.

I get 2 freezes every single ground RB game, usually within 10 secs of loading in and they always occur within 3 seconds of each other.

Unlike some others on this list, I have not run into large performance differences between linux and windows other than those two freezes.

I use an intel 12400f and a rx 7700 xt.

The same problem, but in the Steam launcher 1-5 seconds and the Vulcan error. But already in the Native WT Launcher 0.5-1 second or there are no more freezes.

Same as Galvanizedneuron, I have the same if not at times better performance than windows. However, two freezes occur early into a GRB game. Did not reproduce this in arcade nor practice range. Using the steam native version. Tried with LD_PRELOAD=“” and gamemode.

Same issue. I assumed that because of my Linux distro. Tried KDE Neon and GNOME (Ubuntu 24.04). Game freezes at the beginning 2 times for 5-15 seconds and then running smoothly without issues, but that causes problem when you need to take position ASAP :D
Afterwards everything runs smoothly. Have 150-180 FPS.

Attached my setup to this message.

I have the same issue on Arch linux. Sometimes when it freezes it appears an error dialog telling me that the process crashed but if i click on “wait” i can continue playing without other freezes

Same issue, since a very long time (few months).
If game freezes for a minute, “anticheat” kicks in and removes me from the game (funnily also relieving the freeze)
Manjaro linux, i just installed the launcher anew and issue persists.

Still occurs. What’s funny, only in ground realistic battles.

my guess its anti cheat it only started after battle eye and it isn’t present in air-battles or was in the ww1 tank event

God to know Arch has the same issue so its not decade old Linux Mint doing decade old Mint things

Same issue here, I think I’m the only person who also fly tts and i can say is present on the 1vs1 props and jets tournaments.

I recently switched to linux from windows and the game runs fine, except it freezes my system completely every few matches. Music still plays and the frame is still. Can’t Alt Tab or F4, I have to hard reset my laptop. Please Gaijin look into this issue…

OS: Linux Mint 22.1 x86_64

Tried to see today since the 130+ reply bug report thread was locked, still not fixed. In fact I caused a massive pileup at spawn. 👍

And I get the same full system freezes with amd GPU + CPU, notably when I used the Gaijin launcher through steam - 2nd matches it completely froze my PC and I had to hold power button. Same distro linux mint 22.1.

Hello @Zoe_chan,

If WT is freezing permanently then that is likely a different issue, Could you please submit a bug report regarding the freezes that don’t recover?

Hello @apemax ,
I already did submit a bug report shortly after writing the post above as the problem continues. My bad for reporting it here, it most likely is a different issue from one in this thread

Right, No problem. Could you please post a link to your bug report?

Same issues on Arch… This is not a new issue its constantly a problem. This is why I never play this game! Their inept support for the native launcher is inexcusable. I don’t want to play this game on steam via proton for my own reasons. I shouldn’t have to rely on proton if they have a native version!
