This change would also explain the claimed lighter weight of these elements by the manufacturer.
That looks neat, nice to see a biy more info.
Quote? Can you provide the link/source to such quote? Would be another nice point in proving what kind of armor is there.
Just quoting what some tank enthusiast blogger said, the one that provided bluepring piece, not like official source quote.
Why is the kinetic protection one Duplet ERA provides is 140 while one relikt is 250 which the relikt is given the real life value it has. Based on this:
It should have a kinetic protection value of around 430 mm right? How is a dm53 round passing through two Duplet ERA and the hull and penetrating when it has a pen value of around 650mm? Are the reasons why oplot ERA bug reports are not going through because we don’t have “official” sources? Any update on this issue? I thought Duplet ERA was better than Relikt cause it uses linear shaped charges rather than the older method of moving plates that relikt still uses?
Does anyone have the source Gaijin used to give one duplet ERA 140 mm of kinetic protection? I’m not seeing that number yet on my searches.
The best we know is that they either used the advertised numbers for a completely different ERA called Duplet 2M which has smaller and lighter charges, or that they made the numbers up. Same with the missing 50mm plate, they can pretty much make up things and then require documents to prove what is already known.
Prior to war thunder, no one was claiming that BM-Oplot only has 2 steel plates in the composite or that Duplet only stops 280ish mm of kinetic penetration.
I’m getting really tired of this game’s “selective realism”. I heard that they sent the duplet to USA for testing. I guess we wait for either Ukraine or USA to release some document.
Well there is already evidence sufficient enough to at least give the ERA its proper values, duplet was fired at with 3BM42 at 100m and left only a residual penetration of ~93mm, meaning more than 400mm in penetration was reduced. You can watch this test footage right now on youtube. Many people have made reports with it and they’ve been labelled as “not enough info” or “not a bug” with some vague excuse.
I don’t think there will be any additional document released. I think they will intentionally keep the tank in this state even if there is new evidence, because if the armour was realistic, it would certainly have to go up to 12.7, and gaijin cannot have a squadron vehicle at the top BR. So I predict that it will remain in this state for now. We are probably gonna wait for new info + new top tier tanks at 13.0+ so gaijin can raise the Oplot.
Ah the squadron tank is a good point. Very unfortunate and seems like the actual reason for the nerf. Such a shame that Japan is nerfed because of china.
They haven’t been able to fix the missing 360-degree rotation of the 12.7 mm machine gun for over 4 months, even after an accepted bug report - so what’s there to say about the other issues with this tank…
Spoiler
(I won’t even mention the double standards here, I’ll just leave this image.)

Neither have they fixed the misalignment of the Mg. It’s not even useful as a 50 cal cause it doesn’t shoot where you aim.
T72 arena’s aps works since it was added recently but KF41 APS has been bugged for 2 years. Really feels like some nations get preferential treatment. sigh
There is a new armor deficiency: 35 mm APDS can go through the drivers port of the Oplot-T/M.
Waow
Still can’t rotate 360°
Probably gotta wait another six months for them to fix this as well.
Oplot-T with half of its side skirts removed, I wonder why we don’t have that ERA on that block in the game? Did Gaijin model it wrong? The ERA blocks don’t even look the same size.
I suspected that ERA should be present in all 6 sections (since all 6 share the same design and width, unlike the rear ones), rather than just the first 5, but I haven’t been able to find any documentary evidence to support this.
Just my thoughts...
Personally, I would add that if these tanks had been put into serial production for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, I believe that by now ERA would have been installed along the entire side of the hull, if not in other areas as well, along with other protective structures.
they just want to make the oplot weaker
