Community Update No.13: What’s Coming Up!

I agree, it is a problem. I have ended up multiple times with nukes by simply playing helis in top tier in the last month (AH64E exclusively, never managed in mi28nm, though, i dont wanan simply spam each and every match, it really gets boring after some time, but thats how you gotta play AH64E to be effective, thx pantsir SM-SV, i blame you)

But my point is, i dont think MITL will make this any or at least not a lot worse than it already is.
Because

of this.

This is the main problem.
Especially not that the Pantsir SM-SV is strong (maybe apart from its ability to intercept ordinance en masse, which is a problem, because no one else can) BUT even more because almost all other SPAAs are helpless vs helis. If every nation had acces to a similarly strong saclos missile or at least have working fox-3 missiles on their best available SPAAS to counter or at least be a danger vs helis the problem wouldnt be half as bad.

But people that will try to use exclusively MITL to launch from behind cover will only make their agms more susceptible to getting intercepted. Also Spike-ERs as well as Spike NLOS are IR and IOG guided so they will need any sort of IR lock first to be able to launch which means exposing yourself. (Somehow Spike ER doesnt get its IMU guidance which would be similar to GNSS)

Which then leads to the determination: USSR and China will be the only nations that will have GNSS guided agms that can be launched while completely sitting behind cover and never even exposing themselves that also have MITL and IR guidance…Two of the already best performing helis (Mi28nm and Z-10ME) will get that additional mechanic on their best a2g ordinance, while everyone else gets it on way worse ordinance, on ordinance that cant be launched through gnss or on helis that are a long way in effectiveness from the true top tiers.

FCM F1 Tank for France, Bob Semple Tank with 37mm gun, Kalinin K-7 super Bomber, Karl Gerät…

Ooh wait I might have clocked what this is. Is it a re-run of the Great War event from last year?

Makes so much sense to have it mid November hopefully if it is that it’s made recurring and with some additional rewards (AoT WW1 planes + Zeppelin please I beg)

Doubtful. Gaijin has been on track to add them this update since Line of Contact.

December updates almost always introduce airframes/vehicles that will be meta for the whole year,

Apex Predators had F-16 and MiG-29

Air Superiority had F-15 and Su-27

Storm Warning had Rafale and Typhoon

Line of Contact had AESA Typhoon and Su-30SM2

There are no other new 5th gens they could add that would be meta defining. Su-35 will perform almost exactly like the Su-30SM2 we have in game, and the F-15EX will be fast but won’t have the crazy radar like the AESA Typhoons.

The only real option if they want to continue this trend (which they likely do) is 5th gens.

Do I sense… ANOTHER THING TO COPE FOR?
:P

Yes, if it was cope.

Not adding 5th gens in December would be a change from Gaijin’s normal behaviour with these updates. It’s possible, but I don’t think its likely considering everything we’ve seen so far.

They also featured the Artwork for it in this CM, I wondered about that.

Much more WW1 Content is still missing after all. (Where is Renault FT and will we finally get to keep the Zeppelin?)

Fcm F 1 was a mock up
Bob semple was never equped with a 37 mm
K 7 was never built afaik

Karl gerät is an interesting one.
Maybe with deplaypble ammo trucks simolar tp how radar systems deplpy thei launchers in top tier.

But even then your reload would be 2 minutes +

There aren’t many options that were built IRL.

Between a combination of making helis far more vulnerable to attack (Proper radar signatures, no MP, etc etc) and having the spawn points/re-arm points 10-15km further away than their maximum weapon ranges. I think a lot of the strength of both FnF and MITL would be mitigated, Does need a bit of a BR increase, but GRB. Period. Is compressed to hell at the moment, so nothing really new there

Essentially a “solution” for a problem that doesnt need to exist in the first place…

This aside, this spawnable CIWS in the current state of things, would just be useless as the auto-lead via radar screen is really wonky (underleads shells all the time) and KETF/AHEAD is underperforming to laughable degrees (32/152-162 fragments, which also conveniently do nothing and have artificially limited range; Though a tech mod has forwarded materials I gave them that contain sufficient documentation to the devs to resolve all of that… eventually…)

And that’s also where its’ purpose ends, because neither Skyranger 30 (30mm Oerlikon Type KCE), nor Skyranger 35 (35mm Oerlikon Type KDG) are dual-fed, so you’re limited to KETF.

Ready-to-use ammunition is also severly limited for both of them (considering their RoF) and there are no direct figures for additional ammunition carried in the hull.
We can ofc argue that they’d have such, but if you take a look at sWaTrgInf (which’s key purpose was to carry more ammo…) then the hopes for that dwindle quickly.

I hope we are also getting the Swiss ground vehicles for Germany.

Making minimum rearmament and repair time for helis 70s and disabling repairing ability after taking severe damage would already solve a lot of issues but then again it’s pretty clear what kind of player they’re targeting with these kind of vehicles so reducing capabilites or, god forbid, raising skill floor, is not something I expect them to do.

please tell me they arent actually thinking of adding that?

Meh no major mechanics fix

I wonder which version that’ll be to be honest, I assume it’s gonna be the earlier version rather than the upgraded GWI so modelling 35x228mm FAPDS is out of the question…?

another Cheetah ??? France have a AMX-30S in 8.7 now , they very need a 7.3 or 7.7 spaa join in game, instead of another 8.3 SPAA

I do like the idea that helis cant just infinitely repair massive damage, a similar mechanic does already exist for aircraft. Seen waaaaay too many land and repair after damage that should have killed them

Not sure about massively increasing reload times, but having an actual commute too and from the heli pads would be more than enough. The issue right now is that htey can hover above a repair point and engage without issue.
