Sort of the question. If US top tier aircraft are the ones struggling, why would you give the buff meant to make them more competitive to the airframes that are performing better? Not to be mean or rude. Just that the logic doesn’t track. The EFT and company seem more maneuverable and faster (in most aspects, correct me if I am wrong) than both the F-15 and F/A-18.
but at the same time, why should the Typhoon or Gripen E be left behind?
This idea that “X vehicle is doing well therefore it can be forgotten” is really annoying. Especailly as its always the same few nations
If you are trying to dogfight an EFT in a F-15, then sure. But in BVR, they arent that far apart
People need to realize A/B just arent meant for practically IR ranges. But its too much to ask for considering big 3 players
Super hornets have beaten EFTs in dogfights irl and it was very one sided
Because they’re still outperforming US aircraft at similar BRs? The argument isn’t that the Typhoon and Gripen are being left behind. I don’t think that is the correct lense to frame the issue. If US aircraft are lagging behind in terms of competitiveness, giving the 120D to every vehicle that carried it right off the bat puts you right back into the original situation of US vehicles not being capable of fighting.
The issue, in regards to your BVR vs. dogfighting, is that the Rafale and EFT and Typhoon can get into a better position eariler simply because they are faster airframes. Those three jets can get into a better BVR position faster than the F-15 and F/A-18 can. Why give them the better BVR missile? That, again respectfully, doesnt make sense.
So would it be better to not give anyone the 120D and just give the US planes the Aim-9X instead? So they’re more competitive in dogfighting? I dont think Gaijin is trying to forget the Typhoon or Gripen but rather make US top tier air more viable.
I mean that you say WRF was one of the most requested one to come back, therefore i am wondering which other maps are removed from the matchmaking long time ago and that people are requesting to come back.
Spoiler

Fixed Aim-120C5 from a Typhoon vs Aim-120D that isnt stupidly OP from an F-15EX is one thing, but im sorry, there is absolutely 0 argument that can be possibly made to give US and ONLY the US next gen IR missiles.
That would be insane.
But the point is, Ive seen the argument of “Well, the Typhoon si doing fine, so just ignore the bug reports” used waaaaay too often, even for bug reports that dont affect balance.
I hope the same is true when F-22s are just dominating uncontested that bug reports for them are ignored
The argument is “because we said so and blabla russian bias” one way or another
F-16C is actually faster than the sm2 it only seems that fast because the devs give it a mc 1.2 air spawn
Seen enough, F-16C to 18.7
How is stealth and meteor missiles gonna work on a map like rocky pillars? I’m so uncertain of how Gaijin is moving forward on adding new missiles but not new maps.
Exactly, they dont really care about if X is gonna work with Y as long as they can implement it
Figuring out how to do the least amount of work to please us when they can’t even fix what we’re asking for in the beginning.
God knows, but lets face it. Gen 5s will be tuned to dominate, even if its ahistorical
But no one here is advocating for the abandonment of the Typhoon. Respectfully, you are projecting that opinion as fact based on this announcement. I, as a player, can’t control what Gaijin prioritizes on bug fixing. I do hope they fix them soon because clearly it bothers the players who enjoy them. But it also bothers players who enjoy US top tier who don’t have as competitive airframes. Should Gaijin abandon US top tier air then? Because improving it, for some reason to you, means abandoning the Typhoon? I am sorry but that doesn’t make sense.
“Dont fix them because you wont fix mine” is a terrible balancing system.
We will 1000% get Gen 5s at 15.0 with this rate, facing way way more trash gen 4.5s that cant do anything against them lol
But the point is. The Typhoon is struggling just as much as the F-15 is when fighting Rafales or Su-30SM2s, and soon they may start to struggle vs the F-15EX (if that is what is added) and Maybe even the J-10C if the PL-12A are really decent due to the shockingly bad state of AMRAAM most of the time.
At what point is the Typhoon and maybe also the Gripen E, allowed ARH missiles on-par with the MICA EM, R-77-1, Aim-120D and Pl-12A?
Gripen E and Typhoons (and Japanese stuff) will probably get their 120D/AAM4B when 5th gens arrive that already get Meteor and so on
3 years later, its f35 vs f35 vs su57, vs j35. Peek a boo, here’s a missile, Im gonna use my tow decoy now, Oh now Im invisible on your radar and now Im jamming your radar. All of this on a small map like rocky pillars so everyone is just gonna use a full loadout of IRIST or aim 9x since maps are too small for next gen ARH missiles.
Unless they overhaul the AIM 120 adding the AIM120D won’t be that useful. They still haven’t fixed the 120C. I expect it to be (Mostly) useless upon launch. It’s probably just a way to justify another (Mostly) copy paste F15.
