Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation CA-27 Sabre Mk.32 - "The Hunter Down Under"

true but Australia is in the air tech tree now and was put there under the commonwealth name

I mean, the Commonwealth hasn’t been officially called a sub either, and neither should it be since it is HUGE and way too big to be a sub that fits in the UK TT.

true but what can we do but wait and see

Are you certain it is a “filler” or counter weight and not just a cover?
Various aircraft fly with a cover over the cannon port to increase aerodynamic efficiency until the cannons are used.
The first round fired simply clears the cover on those.

Looks like a fairing to me, not a cover that is jettisoned.

Based on a Google search, doesn’t seem like the Aussie CA-27s were regularly fitted with disposable metal covers for the cannons. There are plenty of photos of the planes flying over Australian airspace or on takeoff with the cannon ports exposed. Situations where it’s unlikely they are firing the guns.

That said, I’m not an expert.
