History.
The Republic of Valsesia was a partisan republic that arose in Northern Italy after the start of the civil war following the events of 8 September 1943. The republic was proclaimed on 11 June 1944, and lasted for almost a year until the general insurrection of 25 April 1945. The small republic was born to organize people and local partisans in view of a possible attack by Nazi-fascist units, and over time the small nation began to take on the traits of a real nation, with of the autonomous armed forces, a provisional government, the puppet government of the Republic of Salò is disavowed and activities are organized for the population. The nation also had its own coat of arms for the armed forces, and also an anthem derived from D’Annunzio.
The coat of arms.
The coat of arms of the Valsesia Division was inspired by the coat of arms of the German Gebirgsjäger, different only in having an extra and a shorter leaflet on the stem, and the pollen in the center was not golden. This coat of arms was chosen because it was easy to mistake for a German coat of arms, so the company producing the coats of arms would not risk retaliation from the Nazi-fascist authorities.
