CM Covert Disclosures No.2: Keeping You Updated!

It is, but how realistic is it to make like 10 Million SL per day? For the best results of dropping a specific vehicle, you need many tens, if not hundreds of millions of SL. With Premium time (which I do not always have) and a fun vehicle, I make around 40-50k SL per Match.

I am exactly of the same opinion because the price for Moderna 300gjn or Object 279 -700gjn is simply too high. They could give you a choice of several tanks, then there would be a choice, but only for the account without the possibility of selling. It would slightly reduce prices on the market and would also allow new players to get a tank they haven’t had the opportunity to get.

The Inflation is so extreme, I got my Moderna for around 70 GJN after the Event and the 279 for 145 GJN.

We really need something like annual reruns to atleast temporarily deflate the Market prices.

Why not have event vehicles function as a sort of “early access” to them? You play the event, you get the vehicle right now. Or skip it, and it gets added to the tech tree, say, 2 years later.

This way you can keep both, though the marketplace integration might be a little weird there.

Why not to make it over way around? Add unique vehicle as event and later introduce its analogue as a regular vehicle.

you really didn’t decompress anything, you just moved stuff up to make room for new batch of premium vehicles. So, how long before we start seeing annoucements for preorders of new 80-85$ premium planes in 13.0-13.3 BR range? Next week? Two weeks? There’s a reason why this was so unbelievably rushed and why some of the changes are really sketchy.

… and it only took 6 years. Round of applause.
And how about the wallhack you implemented for helicopters that allows them to shoot rockets/ATGMs through trees? That’s going to stay in game forever, right?

so, it has been promised 14 months ago, it still isn’t here, it won’t be here for “several weeks” (which likely will translate to several months at least).

Remember when Gaijin added rank5 naval and changed bluewater TT so it effectively increased grind to just a single end of line vehicle by something like 40%? Gaijin had absolutely no problem with that and it took them all of 30 seconds. But decreasing grind even by 1% means dragging your heels for more than a year first? Really classy.

And why not do some placeholder solution first? Permanent 3-10% booster based on number of maxed nations? Or just a bunch of normal 10% boosters given each month if player has maxed nation(s) as at least token gesture?

I could be overestimating a bit, we would need much larger sample to determine it more accurately. I’ve opened around 4000 of these so far and i’ve just shared my results.

So you can point at 20 actual vehicles or coupons you got over those 4,000 boxes? I mean that is a pretty big sample. I could just be the one who’s been unlucky (or I’ve overcounted my boxes, my record keeping across all six times wasn’t perfect, but it was certainly a lot more than 1,200).

SL crates are not a reliable way to get old vehicles and they aren’t a good system to provide access to otherwise unobtainable vehicles either.

The people that got these vehicles a long time ago aren’t getting screwed over by them becoming available through new means. They aren’t losing their vehicles, the vehicles aren’t getting nerfed through this and their “work” to obtain them isn’t being undone.

People that held onto vehicle coupons had more than enough time to sell them and people that bought vehicles like the Obj 279, 292, AMX-50 Surblinde, B-I, etc for ridiculous prices should know that these vehicles could return at some point. War Thunder vehicles are not an investment, they have no real world value.

Making previously exclusive content available to everyone that missed their chance to get said content isn’t something unusual either. In many such cases the people that got their hands on this content through their original events often get exclusive cosmetics in return when their previously exclusive content gets brought back.

Nobody said that getting access to previously exclusive vehicles should be easy either. There are more ways of making them available again than just slapping an SL/GE price on them. The events could be repeated, new events with new challenges could be created, etc.

Did you even read what you just said? Not only do vehicles in War Thunder have no real world value and as soon as you get them on your account they don’t even have any pretend value through the market, it isn’t hard or challenging to obtain them through SL crates either.
It. Is. Just. LUCK.
You don’t “earn” them through crates, you either get lucky or you don’t. That’s even worse than making them available through events again, if we apply your own logic to this.

It’s actually 23, not 20, but i opened a bit more than 4000 of these, i don’t remember exact number. So it should be more or less 1:200

so about event vehicles does this mean we won’t be getting any unique and competitive event vehicles anymore? or is this post just explaining how you guys have been deciding event vehicles for the past couple of years? as i would like to still recieve unique and competitive event vehicles as those i find alot of fun to grind and play, and it would be dissapointing to only get variants of exisiting tech tree vehicles

Event vehicles can be competitive without being unique and they can be unique without being special vehicles that don’t exist in any other form.
Stuff like the Churchill Crocodile, Matilda Hedgehog, the upcoming PBM-5A and Sholef, etc all are unique in the sense that they offer something that their existing counterparts don’t do.
Just because a vehicle shares the hull/frame with an existing one doesn’t mean it cannot be unique. They didn’t say all future event/BP rewards would exclusively be reskins with special names like the Tiger Tiger or the Kingcobra Airacobra.

Honestly if they do event reruns using the current standard event score system i wouldn’t mind. Its fairly balanced in terms of players time and investment.
Tho i would say loot boxes are still better then crafting events themselves as a method, since you at least got useful stuff for them , not to mention having boxes running alongside score events means i can use any boosters earned and make up a fair bit of SL or grind since i am playing extra around those times so its a nice QOL having score event and loot boxes be available.
A bad luck protection mechanic wouldn’t be bad especially if it carried from event to event, lets say it goes like this:
every 100 boxes u don’t get a vehicle cupon of either kind you get a piece of a common cupon
6 pieces make a cupon you can combine into a random cupon(for a random unowned common vehicle from then current loot box pool) or a piece of a uncommon cupon, etc.
It would need some changes to the vehicle rarity , namely the 1% drop chance vehicles like IS-7 should get their own rarity level jus tin case.

I’m not saying SL crates should disappear or shouldn’t contain coupons anymore. I get where you are coming from and I do agree that bad luck protection would be good, but with the usual price (60k per box) you still would end up spending way too many Silver Lions, if you have to collect 6 of these coupons to just get one vehicle, especially if there are rarities involved and the rarer ones cost magnitudes more coupons than the more common ones.

About the crafting events, yeah, those should probably be reworked into regular score events instead of being rerun.

SL crates are a somewhat reliable way to obtain old event vehicles. If you open enough of these boxes you will receive some of them. Only annoying part is that you have no control over which vehicle do you get, to which i proposed a solution in one of my earlier comments.

It is luck dependent, but not completely luck dependent. The more crates you open, the less luck is involved. By the law of averages after opening enough boxes you will get your tanks. And by “you need to earn them” i meant preparing yourself for the event. These crates come back like 5 times per year, which gives you plenty of time to prepare silver for them.

And although War Thunder vehicles don’t have any real world value, what they do have is collector value. You may not agree with it, or understand it, but some people just like collecting things in their free time. Collecting vehicles in war thunder is no different than collecting anything in real life. There are some paintings, postcards or whatever that despite being quite literally pieces of paper with some paint on it are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Why is that? Because they are rare. They could be duplicated, but their duplicates don’t get even a fraction of their value, despite being more or less the same thing. They don’t have any actual value, but they do have collector value. Same thing applies to war thunder and this is what i meant by “value” in my previous post.

And yes, players that did get the vehicles back in the days do get screwed over when these vehicles are being brought back, exactly because of what was said above. They are not rare anymore which makes them quite literally worthless.

Imagine you buy some extrmely expensive watch from limited edition from some famous manufacturer for a tone of money, much more than it’s worth materialwise as a collector’s item and then the same manufacturer like 2 years later just makes another huge batch of them because “other people wanted them as well”. Essentially reducing it’s value to the cost of material and work used to create it. Would you feel screwed over?

Same logic applies to War Thunder, just to a smaller scale. A person that isn’t into collecting stuff will not give a crap about what i’ve just wrote and interpret such reasoning as stupid, because there is actually not really a lot of logic behind that.

But whether you like and understand it or not, getting things that not everyone can have is a real hobby some people have and it is a part of War Thunder.

Nothing stops Gajin from bringing these vehicles back, they could do it even at this very moment and no one could say anything, since these vehicles belong to them, not players. They can distribute them whenever they want and as many of them as they want. They haven’t done it so far though. You know why? Because playerbase trusts them they won’t release them and anything like that would immediately ruin that whole trust and ruin the entire in game economy, by basically crashing the entire marketplace. Just like whole modern day economy, marketplace in war thunder is built entirely on trust.

Gajin earns quite a bit of money from the marketplace and they want these tanks to have high value. They can’t afford to ruin their entire economy just like the previously mentioned watch manufacturer wouldn’t sell any limited edition watches again in fear of losing trust of his customers and his future works being worthless

I would generally agree with this if it said SL crates alone are not a reliable way. The game did need a cash sink to increase average SL rewards and this was what they came up with. The 30 mil SL I have now would be 130 mil without a cash sink and I’d have nothing to show for it except a big number.

  1. Bring back the coupon crate for warbonds (for 40+ seals or whatever)
  2. Increase the vehicle drop odds on the update crates (you could do this for every one of the million crates on the market now for a boost to rare vehicle availability and a marketplace price reduction overall at any time)
  3. Expand both to a larger selection of marketplace vehicles so the prices don’t get so stupid through the regular dribble of new coupons.
  4. Put an actual chance of vehicle drops bigger than “infiniteismal” on daily logins. Every old vehicle should be available at some very small chance through either #1, #2, or #4 (can overlap but doesn’t have to).
  5. After a set sunset period (5 years or whatever) make everything, including marketplace vehicles, GE-purchaseable. You wouldn’t even have to remove old coupons, they’d just price down when you did that below their worth in GE as the sunset date approached

You could still keep the SL crates for events too, the I don’t think people would mind so much (axe the GE vehicle crates though, those are really predatory on actual addictive personalities and kids).

Crafting events are no longer a thing. In new event system Gajin said they will not bring them back ever again, all future events will be score ones
