I do hope they end up adding the CBU-97 or CBU-105. For nuke thunder, you could drop just 1 or 2 per stronghold and clear the whole thing out. And they would probably be decent for convoys as well.
Defintive must is also Rockeye: So far US naval aviation has nothing at all, USAF is already quite well supplied…
What I want to know is if Gaijin plans on giving them a higher damage multiplier against buildings so that they can be used against the depots in nuke thunder, since cluster bombs are very effective against structures. They could even use that as an excuse to either remove or heavily restrict the usage of nukes, so that they can actually balance it around the use of conventional weapons.
I just did a little bit of looking and found that the only other country in game that could get something like this is Russia. They have the SPBE-D which they can load up to 15 of them in one RBK-500 bomb. Though that gives them less than half the submunition count compared to the CBU-97/CBU-105. And the only European country to acquire the CBU-105 is Turkey, and so far the only Turkish vehicle in game is a tank in the US tech tree. No other European country acquired any or made their own version because they all signed the Convention on Cluster Munitions. However, South Korea acquired some, so whenever the Korean tech tree comes to the game, it could get them.
Edit: Britain could maybe get CBU-105 via India
Currently the only Buccaneer that have access to the BL755 is the S.2B, the regular S.2 doesn’t have access to it.

Please support, thank you! = )
I do wonder if it’s just delayed for Swiss planes because they want to make a correct colour texture and UI name for it, like the Chinese-built “250-3” version that’s been added at the same time.
But there’s also a few Thai (AV-8S) and Benelux (F-16, NF-5A, Mirage 5BA) jets in subtrees, where it’s not been added as well
For some reason BL755 don’t do any damage to bases in test-flight on the dev-server (and they don’t have animation of cluster bombs).
CBUs do not damage bases.
But why? Shouldn’t they do some damage?
You’re firing 147 HEAT-FRAG rounds at it that only have 175mm pen, not really
The Bl.755 he mentioned doesn’t do damage at anything, or very little.
While in test flight a CBU-58 or CBU-87 can kill 4-6 of the light ground targets easily with one bomb, the Bl.755 atm only manages 1 kill…
Even the CBU87s do nothing to bases
Yes, but then, we have enough stuff to attack bases, incendiaries are exceptionally potent against them.
CBU’s are intended against ground units (infantry, vehicles, armor), not specifically buildings.
Still, they should afflict some damage to buildings as well, technically.
Why wasn’t Russia given the version with HEAT-FRAG fragmentation penetration, like the others? The RBK-500 PTAB-1M is loaded with 268 PTAB-1M anti-tank submunitions. The RBK unit weighs 427 kg, with a length of 1,954 mm and a diameter of 450 mm. Each PTAB-1M shaped-charge anti-tank submunition weighs 944 g, measures 260 mm in length, and has a diameter of 42 mm. A single submunition is capable of penetrating 200 mm of homogeneous armor (when striking at a normal angle).
Yeah, I think they should do some damage, just like rockets.
I would say too potent.
Absolutely!
I still think a next step in the evolution of WT gameplay would be modular mission targets with realistic buildings and assets, where it really matters what is hit where with what, instead of hitbar-style area targets: A mission target should consist for example of several individual buildings: carpet bombing may knock some out which are hit, but precision weapons would be better suited to target individual buildings. and in some cases, even specialized weapons may be necessary to kill e.g. a hardenend aircraft shelter.
Then one could also have different types os “bases” like troop assembly areas with vehicle parks and non armored, temporary buildings, against which then incendiaries or cluster bombs may be more suitable and efficient.
Rock-Paper-Scissors instead of just Rock-Rock-Rock.
So with the addition of CBU’s finally can we expect to see CBU variants for weapons systems already in game or even further variants? For example we have the AGM154A1 JSOW but there were variants like the AGM154A with a CEB cluster warhead and the AGM154B that uses 24 of the BLU-108 IR anti armor sub munitions or even the AGM154C with an IR seeker and a BROACH warhead. We also see Russian variants of existing weapon systems in game that have cluster variants like the PBK-500U Drel with GLONASS guidance and 15 IR targeting Anti-Tank submunitions and the RBK-500 with UMPK Kits. Lastly we have to ask about the Tornados’ centerline cluster dispenser pod the MW-1. Can we expect to see these in the near future or other variants of CBU units that dispense mines as well? Are they planned so that we can expand the strike arsenal for nations?
Where is BK90 for AJ/AJS37 and JAS39?
My assumption is they atm start with unguided “normal” cluster bombs for now, no stand off weapons with cluster warheads or submunition pods…
