Destroyers should probably be transferred to the Bluewater Navy, ideally the largest ones you should have in the Coastal Tech Tree are frigates and corvettes.
I would also shy away from ships that carry big ASMs (ATGM level is probably fine) as theyre not yet currently in the game. Try to check for ships around the 60s and 70s which should still fit in the current Naval gameplay of WT. Anything newer would probably be too modern for now (since most likely it would have missiles as its main armament instead).
Im pretty sure there are some hydrofoil boats that the PLAN had, those should make for better premium boats.
I think the two in the TT proposal are a bit too weakly armed to be in the Bluewater tree. They have basically the same problem that other Torpedo Boat and Torpedo Boat Destroyers have in that they’re too lightly armed to be in the bluewater tree (the first one featuring only 37mm guns and the other featuring only 76mm guns).
Aye, and no problem. I explored the concept of TBs and TBDs for my US Bluewater rework project but ran into the same issues. Most of the TBs and TBDs from the era basically just have 37, 47, 57, or 76mm guns and two or three torpedo tubes, which would make them some of the weakest ships in-game
As Jon had already pointed out, the destroyers are far too weakly armed to be in the bluewater tree with just 76mms. (also the HMS Churchill possesses a single gun that the destroyers in this tree also have, it can only fire HE)
Speaking of, I’ve been thinking of how those big AShMs should be balanced to fit the current state of the game (make them researchable mods perhaps), as well as how they should be controlled (SACLOS like in the Saetta’s or manually controlled?).
Very true, but there seems to be very little info on any other examples outside of either the modern ones or the two Huchuans.
I think thats a good base point. I suppose it would be alright if its F&F as the bigger ships its meant to encounter in WT would have thicker armor so these ASMs wouldnt be too OP. Maybe the riverboat monitors that North Vietnam managed to capture by the end of the Vietnam War could fill in more for the coastal tree? Hell, I say we can probably add the Albanian Navy since they were closer to Mao than the Soviets. Id try to look into it if I can find anything interesting.
Albanian navy would not probably bring too much to the table. As for North Vietnam those could be nice premiums, especially in case where they were not modified after capture but I would avoid getting them into main tech tree due to Chinese Coastal Tech Tree being quite nice on its own. I think there are still some vessels like more gunboats remaining to be added.
Aye, and when you consider it, even Churchill is stronger than those early Destroyers. It’s the same problem I was running into which ultimately led me to just put those on the backburner as part of my US Coastal rework proposal
Still would like it to be uptiered and the missiles added
I hope that the vehicles can be as realistic as possible and i want to troll some battleships
Quite complicated where I obtained them actually. For a majority of them they can be found in the sources provided. (The Yulin one I got from Navypedia but turns out it was originally in Conway’s, forgot the page)
