It being bad in game does not constitute it being a bad tank irl, for one, the gun depression in game is absurdly wrong
Personally, I’ve found the VT-4 to be a very reliable and good tanks, and have been able to maintain a 1-2 KD in it so far. However, I still feel that it should come before the WZ1001 rather than after, as it’s overall still slightly worse when it comes to armor, firepower, and mobility. In the right situation tho, the VT-4 can outshine all other Chinese MBT’s thanks to the APS, especially when faced with helicopters or ATGM tank destroyers. The location of several fuel tanks around the tank also help, as they occasionally help reduce spalling and protect the crew a bit, although at the cost of fire.
I really hope sooner than later tho that this tank receives its spall-liners as there is now ample evidence and the reports about them have been acknowledged. It could also receive the improved ‘E’ shell in the future as it’s a very modern Chinese tank. The Reload as well should be buffed to its maximum of 6.7 seconds, as the tank could use any edge it gets. With these factors combined, it would help justify its placement after the WZ.
Premium vehicles!
Could China ever get access to a top tier light tank with decent reverse speed?
Yes. ZTQ-15 and VT-5
yes, the two listed also have 4 second reload (I think), and a high penetrating 105mm apfsds
Should have the same transmission as found on the PGZ-09
Really? What’s the reverse speed of that?
Should be able to check in game, but I think it’s around 10mph
16kmh
VT-5 definitely doesn’t have 10km/h reverse speed. It can reverse way faster than that
If you have proof I’d love to see it so we can keep it, but from everything I’ve seen it has the same transmission already found on the PGZ-09
I only have video evidence but that doesn’t count as proof sadly
It’s still something, could you link it?
China Norinco VT series MBTs, History, Performance & Discussion - #195 by soviet_MoonMan this post is everything I’ve accumulated on the type 15
The name of the transmission is the CH700B
Turns out in that video the hull was rotated backwards. So it was actually driving forward. But I think I have seen a picture of it’s gear shifter. I need some time to find it again
Since the VT5 is an export tank, shouldn’t their reverse speed be advertised?
Probably but I dont think they show reverse speed in brochures. Most of the brochures I have seen so far didn’t show reverse speed.
