China Norinco VT series MBTs, History, Performance & Discussion

I heard Bangladeshi VT-5s have upgraded armor. But I cannot confirm whether if it’s true or not

What?does it really exist?

I think it yes, many countries used to test 130/140mm gun.

140mm cannon exists for sure. There‘s lots of evidence, even real penetrator photo.

And an impressive sub-caliber ammunition for 155mm howitzer (maybe, not sure)

That round is huge

Kek nice
That round next to the 140mm penetrator is DTW-125 and that projectile is ~642mm long

The 140mm apfsds projectile is like 850mm long and the penetrator is most likely roughly 750-775mm long.
Muzzle velocity is 1810m/s
Penetrator is 5.71kg

Penetration according to L-O
733-755mm @ 0m (0)
687-708mm @ 2000m (0)
—-
400-412mm @ 2000m at 60 degrees

It’s like roughly equivalent to M829A4 in best case scenario

Useful information for me, thx.

Gaijin says that MBT-2000 use FY-2 and FY-4, so they have more reliable source, maybe i need to edit my topic.

FY-4 is probably only used around the cage armor

Does MBT-2000’s first extended composite armor mean that 96/99/99A also has first extended composite armor

DTW-125 projectile being 642mm long (proof)

The VT-2 image you used is actually of the VT-2B
VT-2B got the RCWS, not the base VT-2.

Fixed, thx :)

It is worth mentioning that FY-4 has been removed from the dev blog of MBT-2000, and it is now Rank VII.
So i think it will be in 10.3/10.7 now.

Is 6TD-2E engine same as 6TD-2?

Export name.

How does the VT-1’s name work? Is MBT-2000 the name assigned by Norinco and VT-1 the name assigned by the PLA, or did VT-1 replace MBT-2000?
