A J-20 with 8x PL-15 on the outer pylon?

Looks like a supposed ‘Beast Mode’ layout with dual pylons on the wings, could result in up to 12-14 BVRAAM loadout

Well do we have info about outer missile of other 5th gen fighter?
Waiting for SPAMRAAM moment

F-35 can but using pylons that drastically reduce RCS, not sure if its able to mount double pylons either, F-22 ive never seen carry external weapons, only drop tanks

Some are saying this is PL-17

PL-17 isn’t compatible on double pylons yet, the J-20 in the images is carrying 8x PL-15 on the wings

F22 can carry 4 amraams external (at least that we know of, could be 8 if it has inner wing stations)

Which makes a total of 10 AMRAAM/JATM and 2 aim-9

Oh lord

Guess it might be appropriate to revive this thread :p

Why?

There was a leak on potential 5th gen fighters being added to the game, but I guess you are aware of this by now.

No, I haven’t been following leak news.

Well it was leaked that the j20, along with the other 5th gen’s, will come by the end of the year.

Power creep people were right

Looks like it’s going to be the best bvr bus out of all the 5th gens, will be a boring but effective plane for sure. No gun is also going to be pain for wt when your missiles don’t work. Btw does anyone know if it can carry that long range pl-17 or whatever it is, or will su-57 have the longest range missile for a 5th gen with its miniaturized r37m.

I imagine Snail wouldn’t add long range missiles without giving them to everyone (not necessary on 5th gens, but in similar fashion as it was with Fox-3 - someone gotta pull a short straw and use 4th gen with them)

Theoretically the J-20 will have very good supersonic turn performance given its aerodynamic configuration although if we’re talking about strictly WVR at low subsonic speeds, Su-57 and F-22 will be superior in this regard, especially if it isn’t the J-20A which will incorporate more powerful WS-15 engines (we may eventually see that added.) It should be superior to the F-35 though in a dogfight. At least from what I’ve heard, general dogfight performance of the F-35A is similar/comparable to a F-16, although the F-35A does have the ability to pull much more AOA.

At least all of the public sources place the J-20 to be slightly lighter than the F-22 and Su-57, this can be because the J-20 doesn’t have TVC and an internal gun which would reduce the weight, as well as being built with a decent amount of composites. If Gaijin adds the J-20 with WS-10C engines (147KN of max thrust) the TWR will be comparable to the F-22A and Su-57.

The main thing that will make the J-20 very good though is if Gaijin gives it the infamous PL-15s. Images have shown that the J-20 also can fit hardpoints on the wings (at least 8x PL-15s there) at the cost of increased radar-cross section, so theoretically one can bring 12x (4x in the main IWB) PL-15s to combat. For close-quarters combat the J-20 at the very least isn’t completely defenceless, as it carries 2x PL-10s which are comparable IR missiles to the MICA-IR/IRIS-T with TVC and if slaved to an HMD, will be quite deadly.

The lack of a gun is somewhat annoying, though with the playstyle I’ve adopted there’s not many times I have actually used it in a battle unless it’s during a stock grind. Curiously though, the J-35 does seem to feature a protrusion on the upper left fuselage which may suggest a gun port. This isn’t completely impossible as there exists a patent for it out there.

gun port?

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but imo the J-20 looks a lot better as two-seater.
