Chengdu J-10, History, Performance & Discussion

Is there any information on the radar warning receiver for the j10c? Can’t find anything about it other than allusions to an “improved rwr”.

i guess there are two variants:

  1. They already made a decision of replacing al-31 with ws-10b and now just ignoring all reports about it how they did with radar reports on j-11b in the beginning.
  2. They already made a decision of having it like that for good and it doesn’t matter for them

Beside engine there are bazilion problems with J-10C rn:

  • IRST of mig-29
  • Barely any irl air-to-ground munitions
  • Worse dogfight performance than J-10A
  • Same drag problems as J-10A which sabotage it’s TWR potential by enormous margin

what are the specs of its irst? irl

has someone prefired no pl15 bug report yet

I saw this get screenshot on Baidu twice. I do appreciate seeing people see the further strong capability of the YINGS-III and the report actually being accepted :), but I would like to clear the misconception that it got accepted just because I’m a mod or something.

I don’t think that’s the case, as the J-10C is quite a strong aircraft, so it would make sense for action to be taken here (or so I would think)

(Or is there a joke I’m missing here? Sorry I don’t really know so I apologise if so)

How’s the J10 acceleration looking, is it comparable with the eurocanards?

Absolutely not. More like J-11B.

J10C should be active in the C704 series like J10B

Heard it’s around the same if not worse than the J-10A, because for some reason the WS-10B was not chosen. Hopefully that will change

I’m just taking the “it’s still subject to change” part of the stream as “it might still get the WS10B”

It’s much faster than the J10A, still not quite as good as the rafale and the typhoon but it can hit 1.25M on deck, although this is with min fuel and only stock missile loadout. But the issue is still with the drag, they really need to cut it down, it’s only going this fast by sheer brute force, the AL-31FN Series 3 iirc is the most powerful engine in game by some considerable margin.

Ye it is overall considerably faster than 10A but leagues behind EF/Raf. Also energy retention in high-speed turns isnt that good, as to be expected.

I don’t think they will come so soon.

I feel like GB250 IR at least should come, as it was shown with the J-10C. I don’t know about the YJ missiles, but I think I do remember a J-10 variant being displayed with KD-88s. But that’s all just an assumption from me

Or perhaps that’s just me coping again

All the fault with the drag, pisses me off

The YJ-83 was announced on the JH-7A prototype devblog. The KD-88 has the same cylindrical body as the YJ-83; its systems are simply more modern and adapted for ground attack. Even though there are air-to-ground versions of the YJ-83KH (IR seeker) that are still used on modern aircraft like the J-15, perhaps China is using the YJ-83K/KH for training as a replacement for the KD-88. I don’t know; it’s just a guess.

Because it’s the same missile, just in a more modern form for the KD-88, I think it might have a chance of being included in this update
