Is Gaijing going to model the DSI intake on the J10 to increase stealth?

Not likely, but I do hope they remodel the jet completely since J-10A is a complete mess in terms of FM.

Hopefully they model the reduced drag at transonic speeds.
It would greatly benefit the J-10 since it current struggles to accelerate around M1.

The RCS reduction would be negligible in ranges where we play in WT

Is the PL-5EII or PL-8B better for the J-10A? I remember on launch the EII was better, but I also heard that the 8B is better, so-

Which one is better?

The PL-5EII generally seems slightly better iirc

Depends, cause if u want to play up high, PL8B with much more thrust is better since u can hit shots from as far as 6km consistently, whilst if u want to play low down PL5EII is much better due to better off rack.

actually almost same, but E II is a bit faster.

Really?
Stat card says that PL-8B goes mach 3.5 and PL-5EII goes mach 3.

Also, does anyone know if J-10A gets NCTR?

We meant how fast can it start to do a turn, the PL8B has a slightly longer period after launch where it can’t manoeuvre, however its almost the same. PL5EII being slower actually helps it in that aspect.

No clue. In fact no Chinese jet other than AWACS seem to have any sources even remotely using NCTR.

Ohh, Gotcha, Thanks a ton!

That’s… Unfortunate.

I mean they might actually just not have NCTR cause why would they need it if they are all fighting with AWACS.

more like no mention

should have, but still no information, AWACS is not so accurate besides long range

i mean China’s air force is is more defensive and does have a lot of AWACS, if they didnt have NCTR on individual fighters it wouldnt surprise me, but i think stuff with AESA and very long range missiles has it since its useful to identify priority targets

I mean it’s part of the radar’s function, not like MAWS, you choose to install or not. so it’s not strange to have the ability with similar standard radar.
but most of the radar are not for sale, so no information, and even export radar, details only provided to customers in private

PL-5EII = Pre-Reworked Magic 2
PL-8B = Glorified AIM-9L with R-73 seeker.

I prefer PL-5EII for J-10 since it’s much lighter and you don’t have much thrust like J-11.

not so different. 5EII is the fastest ir missile in game, and PL-8B is the second fastest, can’t be compared to just AIM-9L, which is almost the slowest

Actually no, the PL-8B accelerates slightly slower than the PL-5EII and they both have a 0.5s guidance start delay. The warheads are 58 and 60kg (PL-5, PL-8) and the delay is also the same to arm the proxy fuse (0.5s).

The stat card speed is useless information and not really true. The maximum overload says 40 for the PL-8B and 35 for the PL-5EII, but the actual maximum lateral fin acceleration is 31 m/s for PL-5 and 31.2 for PL-8B, it is almost identical. They both have a maximum fin angle of attack of 19.8 degrees, and they both have the same wing area multiplier and drag value.

Due to the ever so slightly better acceleration of the PL-5EII off the rail, the missile closes with a target sooner and thus means it will be less likely to get flared. The PL-5EII also has a 23s guidance limit vs the 20s on the PL-8B, which honestly means nothing as both are out of energy after that much time anyway.

That leaves only some PID numbers as the remaining changes, but these are also very similar and I don’t think they will have a meaningful impact on performance.

TL;DR
They are almost the same missile as far as the datamined information goes, with very very minor differences. Pick which one looks cooler to you.

As far as air to air missiles go;

AIM-92A ATAS: 429 m/s
PL-5EII: 336 m/s
PL-5B/C: 330 m/s
Magic 2: 314 m/s
