Yes, this seem to be 八一 flight performance squadron only as of RN, and there is nothing about what the raised spine is for.
It seems that raised spine contains the colored smoke.
The raised spine on the F-16D for example is for extra avionics and such. It’s not for smoke…
The issue is if so, why is this 1. applied to the performance squadron first and only, and 2. What avionic(s) will need so much space.
it should be a retired test prototype, testing modification for extra avionics like F-16.
and the test is clearly finished, so it now goes to performance squadron.
At least on the J-10C, it is indeed designed to hold smoke.
This was the initial speculation when this type of aircraft first appeared. However, it has now been confirmed that the aircraft has entered mass production and replaced the J-10AY in the August 1st Aerobatic Team, designated as the J-10CY. Notably, the combat unit’s J-10Cs lack this feature.
That seems like a really bizarre modification when ypu could just use smoke pods…
Why make a modification of an airframe instead of just using smoke pods. Massive waste of resources
This is how ALL j-10 should look like from the start. not with the curved spine but with a proper straightened back.
It’s very VERY obvious that Gaijin is always deliberately trying to label the Chinese TT as the worst
The previously used J-10AYs appear to have experienced exhaustion of colored smoke during prolonged aerial displays. Consequently, the new demonstration aircraft J-10CY features expanded storage capacity.
I’ll take your word for it. But just seems bizarre to me
Same to me when I first saw J-10CY lol.
Does anyone have any good info on what radar the J-10C has? I’ve seen alot of conflicting statements and sources ranging from KLJ-10 KLJ-7A KLJ-17 etc
KLJ-10, KLJ-7A is JF-17’s radar and im not sure if KLJ-17 even exists
That’s what I tought alright. I’ve never heard of the KLJ-17 either apart from 1 article
Could be a mistake
The KLJ-7 designation probably has its root in the fact that JF-17 is essentially an evolution of J-7
So the JF-17 designation is essentially more of a “J-7 + 10” than “F-16 + 1”
Thus JF-17 > J-7 / Super-7 > KLJ-7
And J-10 > KLJ-10
Obviously it had nothing to do with F16 but I would just assume it is a gap plucked.
Sure, but the alternative narrative is that it was named JF-17 because it was supposed to be a successor/replacement for F-16 for Pakistan.
I suppose it could mean both …
J-7 + 10 because it evolved from J-7
F-16 + 1 because it was to succeed the F-16 for Pakistan
But the first one explains where the KLJ-7 radar designation comes from …
(The radar was probably being developed for the “Super-7” project which eventually evolved into JF-17 / FC-1)
Likewise J-10 > KLJ-10
Hmmm. With some new “leak” lists appearing and the old leak list for the last update containing the J-10B i really hope they held back the J-10B and decided to add the J-10C instead in this update.
as the B wouldn’t be all that big of an improvement in terms of gameplay. Slightly heavier airframe slightly more thrust with a better radar…
The C would be at least be a substantial upgrade with a better radar way more thrust and 2 extra PL-12’s and A2G ordinance.
Or ami I missing something on the J-10B?
The TVC 10B would be extremely welcome tho
The J10B is pretty much just an incomplete J10C, a purely interim model from before the radar was ready. So yeah, you would not be missing out on much with the J10B; imo the J10B TVC would be pretty cool however it was a one-off, probably not suitable for the main Tree. Overall, the J10C would be a better addition instead of the J10B due to all that.
