Changes to the Naval Enduring Confrontation Mode

Yes, exactly as per the two proposals I put forward before – you can find our suggestions in the post above.

rip servers in 100 player battles.

Oh, I should also point out that naval EC was sort of the end game content for naval, what you do once you unlock the TT, don’t get me wrong I don’t “hate” people for grinding in it, but once you unlock all of you ships then what? you will just play AB/RB mode? is destroying the mode for “progression” worth it?
Yes I agree with @Stona_WT s post that the mode needed more accessibility, but not at the expense of it’s long term viability.
Methods for addressing those issues are already in place:

Gaijin are doing it with infantry and 128 players. and that fine !

yea but the scale of a human vs the scale of a ship via the amount of moving parts and projectiles. it’s not like joe the infantry man has a iowa amount of AA in his backpack.

To add my two cents to the conversation about these changes.

For context, I basically never played EC before these changes. Though I have played it way back when it first came out.

I didn’t play it before because of some of its core mechanics. I vehemently wasn’t a fan of the SP system and how most EC matches basically boiled down to rat races to whichever team can get the most battleships fielded the fastest. Let alone the fact that if you didn’t have top tier battleships, there was little point to even trying to play EC

These changes have made the mode a lot more enjoyable for me who just wants to enjoy different BR’s in a long form game mode. I played 2 matches yesterday. One at 6.0 for a good 2h15 and one at 5.3 for 1h25 and had a fantastic time enjoying some ships I haven’t played in ages.

The spawn timers have made objectives like attacking a port feel a lot more doable too.

However

I do think the starting conditions of a match are way too low. For something like EC to start in a “1v1” scenario is just not okay. I think most naval players can cope with a somewhat longer queue time if it meant starting with at least a 4v4.

Adding bots to pad the teams is a natural consequence of adding BR based matchmaking. But I think it’d be better to maybe increase team sizes if this is the case. 16v16 can feel rather empty on these maps. especially with the spread out spawning of the bots.

in a similar vein, when players leave a match that’s well underway, they don’t get replaced by bots, making a match as time goes on even emptier. Since there no longer is a SP system, I see no reason to not allow for a later “join in progress” window or at the very least replacing players that left with bots again.

In the long run, despite the gutting of what made EC, EC. (especially when it comes to full player lobbies) I do believe these changes made the mode a lot more approachable. especially with it becoming permanent. But there needs to be more communication as to what the mode actually is for these newer players. And why they should bother to play it.

(and to the EC veterans who are now dismayed, give BR’s other than 8.7 a try too)

On a side note. EC becoming permanent opens the door for a lot of other ship types to get a nice place (yes, this is carrier cope)

‘’ To respect another person’s opinion is not to accept its truth, but to recognize their right to seek it. ‘’

Well, I’m a veteran of this damn Naval mode, so I don’t really care if a 5.0 vehicle makes 1.5 million SL, or if it earns less than 16k RP because of the rank penalty it would receive when researching a higher-tier vehicle, such as an 8.3.

These are opinions, and everyone is entitled to their own.

All I can do is respect them.

Even if that opinion clearly seems completely absurd.

I do not see the fun facing whole team of bots.

We all know the current state of non‑8.7 BR vehicles – it’s pretty bad. Yet this change is just forcing that terrible matchmaking into the EU mode, and it’s still going to use BR‑based matching afterwards. I’ve witnessed Soyuz fighting Gneisenau – is that what you’re aiming for?

High tier cruisers still face battleships too, just like in regular matches. Same with high tier destroyers

I feel like the game mode needed a nuclear escalation like system for these high end battleships. for the first 15-20 minutes it’s dd’s and early light cruisers/starter heavys (kako). then 10 minutes later it moves on to later CL’s and HCs. then 10 after that it’s early bb’s and BC. and around the hour mark it moves onto end game bb’s.

if someone of casual player go in these lobby he j out left wait 10m the crew lock search for an a undertier and farm the easy BOT

I’m not quite sure I’m following what you’re trying to say here. I’ve quite liked playing, as I said, 6.0 and 5.3 EC matches. matches which had no battleships whatsoever.

the pre changes EC had no matchmaker, so you’d see Soyuz’s fight DD’s or cruisers. One of the major reasons I haven’t bothered with the mode in years

Mate… Planetside… 3 factions 500 players per map in combined arms warfare… glorious! All back in the early 2000s… I miss that game SOOOOOO much!

Opinions are like A-holes… everybody has them and they all stink.

honestly naval just like the rest of the game, needs massive decompression.

I see, ohhhh dude how i see my fun in it

It’s honestly hilarious that I can simply repeat the process over and over again without getting even 5% annoyed.

planet side is still peak.

@Stona_WT Any chance to make mines persist instead of despawning after idr now 15min? So Abdiel and VS-8 and other ships with mines can actually use them as area denial?

I still dream that one day Gaijin will have the brains to do a combined arms mode mode even a little bit like Planetside… looking at you world war mode…

Have a great day, everyone, and I’ll see you all on the naval battlefields ! ⚓🌊
