That’s also a problem, since the game registers what would be a kill as serious damage, so players keep attacking to destroy it. For example, yesterday I lost a match due to time limits because I killed the last player, but instead of dying, he just went into a spin, missing a wing and on fire for a minute, so the miserable time limit now in ARBs caused me to lose.
It is more, why can i throw over 200 rounds of 20mm ammunition into the same wing spar and it doesn’t even take any damage.
Currently the only real way to take out the bombers is shooting AP at the engines. Any aircraft that rely mainly on HE such as the German 20mm are near useless against the bombers.
And it is not only aircraft shooting at the bombers, it is also SPAA shooting at them that do no damage. Something like a M163, Wirblewind, BTR-152D, Skink or SUB-I-II do no damage to the bombers damage model. They have to get lucky and either hit the engines or a pilot snipe, otherwise they cannot do anything against them.
Trying to shoot down the He 111 in the test drive as the Skink. Quite a few shots did hit, bit it continues flying no problem. The He 111 could just as well have been a Pe-8, Lancaster, Tu-1, Su-8 or TIS MA.

This is 50mm HE shell with over 400 grams of tnt equivalent.
Protection analysis on the live server vs dev server when shot at a Vautours wing from a 90 degree angle, which is the best case scenario in terms of blast and fragment damage.
Obviously there is some kind of major discrepancy here, and I would be willing to bet that in buffing the aircraft skin thickness/module hitpoints they have also bugged it in some way, since no aircraft is going to be able to widthstand a hit from what is basically a 50mm tank gun strapped to a plane.
I’ll add to the Vautour example showing the 30mm damage on the dev server vs the live server.
It fails to even penetrate the aircrafts skin and deals no damage.
Where as on the live server.
As expected 30mm shell with 90 grams of tnt equivalent penetrates the aircrafts skin and deals relatively good damage.

Community wanted bombers to be strong and now they’re in uproar because you can’t instantly obliterate a bomber. Goes to show that the community isn’t happy with any change.
Fw 190 hitting a B-24. Tthe B-24 was known for being structurally weak and yet its entire wing section doesn’t explode.
B17 is also famously known for being able to shrug off 6 phoenixes(that one missile designed to destroy bombers) without even leaking oil XDDDD

Other than large damage to the wing surface, it isnt going to blow the wing off, atleast not in my view. The wing is stressed to higher loads than what i can imagine from 400g of tnt.
None of those missiles even hit. You can see them explode behind.
I was testing by firing every AIM-54 at a single plane and when they hit, they blew the whole thing up. The problem is the radar sees all three bombers as one giant radar contact. Sometimes they explode in the centre of the group.
I tested IR missiles too. They’re a bit bugged because they should be aiming for the engines, not the centre of the plane but in most cases, they snapped the fuselage, occasionally the fuselage isn’t broken but the entire tail control is taken out.
Yeah… I dunno man. Something tells me the missile made for interception wasn’t relying on killing the pilot.
Can someone test bomber resilience to a Ki-109 or Hs 129 B-3’s 75 mm HE shell in a custom battle? I’m curious just how ridiculously durable they can be in practice.

It just reports that the B-17 were intercepted by the 10-15 planes for 40 minutes. It doesn’t state how successful they were with their hits. If there were a report of the damage afterwards, it would be different.
That report looks very much like the B-17 pilot were able to make them not commit to any meaningful attacks on the bomber, by keeping its gunners in advantageous positions.
