What do you want, count down once your bomber control wire is broken? I whether they put very partial repair mechanism into fusulage accesable, and off map extraction point for bomber in RB and SB, where it would have a 5-10 mins cool down.
I think the broader issue is that the damage model needs to represent actual system failures and structural deformation better, for fighters as well as bombers.
Hydraulics are a good example. If an aircraft relies on hydraulic power for its flight controls and a line is ruptured, the result should depend on the real system layout. If there is no functioning isolation valve, check valve or independent backup, the leak can drain that hydraulic circuit and eventually remove pressure from every actuator connected to it. On an aircraft without manual reversion, that can mean losing those controls entirely.
Structural damage should also do more than simply decide whether a wing stays attached or falls off.
A wing or tail can remain physically attached while being bent, twisted or partially damaged enough to change its aerodynamic properties. That could produce asymmetric lift and drag, vibration, reduced control authority, a persistent roll or yaw tendency, or make higher speeds and G loads unsafe.
bvvd said in the russian dev stream that this was already added a while ago
Which confirms Migs could not just happily maul B-29s with their cannons. It sounds like B-29s were actually firing back, which made actually hitting said B-29s quite challenging because of long range of its defensive armanent.
Yet some people here act like Mig-15s just unloaded all their ammo, scoring countless hits and most B-29s just shrugged it off.
I don’t think it is enough even if we already have one.
In the case of fighter aircraft, maneuvering under G-loads far beyond design limits would not cause the wings to suddenly snap off as in WT, but rather induce structural wing deformation, resulting in a loss of flight stability and malfunctions in radar, avionics, and various instrumentation, including MFDs.
Of course, pulling the stick all the way back abruptly while flying at high speeds would almost certainly rip the wings.
they also act like the B-29s weren’t escorted by 100 fighters
Those escorts were useless on Black Thursday.
They were not.
You have some Luftwaffe footage where pilots slowly clobber B-17s into submission. That’s what happens when there are no escorts around to be worried about.
Do you really think that,'s how these Migs intercepted B-29s?
I bet there is plenty of proof of B-29s tanking several 37mm shells on top of dozens of 23mm, because with so many Migs just casually unloading their weapons with help of gyro gunsights, and so few B-29s getting shot down, it’s obvious there has to be an exorbitant amount of 37mm and 23mm shells that were just shrugged off, right?
And yes, gunners are scary, but gunners alone would most likely NOT suffice.
Meanwhile, there is 0 proof of these B-29s tanking some ridiculous damage.
There’s just this assumption Migs landed a ton of shots.
The assumption is not properly supported by evidence.
Where are this assume of assumption come from? The whole point is just Black Tuesday is not a good example to indicate post war machine cannon damage potential per shot is higher than that those from WWII.
No second dev server? The great bomber era has begun
On that particular day a TON of migs fully bypassed the escorts and had free reign on the b29s way longer than they should have, it was a massive failing of US doctrine and tactics sending ripples through the chain of command, an actual disaster, leading to b29s getting paused for 3 months as they figured out exactly what went wrong and how to stop it from happening again, answer? Night bombing

can’t take it very well since 1/3rd of them never did
In both war and gaming, keeping morale high is key, so just buy what the poster says and shut up
Update incoming, huh?
Guess since they didn’t really make bombers that vulnerable to fires I’ll abuse the TB-3 lmao
Whelp, this has been a fun (not really) and informational (questionable) past 2500+ messages, but its time to bring this to a close lol
Any changes to bomber damage models is up to the bug reports against Gaijin’s own sources now, best of luck
I for one, am going to call up some old friends who left the game long ago and invite them to some bomber formations like the good old days
Anyway, I will abuse broken collisions if they don’t patch it.
Arado Akber would be fun lol
I’m actually looking forward to spading some bombers now, and abusing the Ju-288. They should be very hard to kill which means easy points/kills for them.
I will make sure to be as annoying as possible and abuse their new durability as much as I can
