Yes bombs can detonate inside bombers.
However if I remember right you need AP rounds now to do it.
The bomber can throw a bigass wrench in this loop by turning and flying away from the fighter

I literally have maintained that bombers need a buff from their live state but ok. Be disengenius.

I did look at fuel tanks in the datamines and they are genuinely obscene.
Like, actually, who came up with the settings that fuel tanks have now? Looking at the datamines a direct 75mm HE round hit has about a 23% chance to set a fire.
This would destroy the fuel tank. But it’s not even a guaranteed leak in game, only about a 30% chance to do so.
