Changes to Bomber Survivability Feedback and Discussion

Those B-17s sure look weird.

B29 is supposed to be stronger
Also I cant use mission editor on a jet I dont own

He is talking about an early Aim-4 Falcon with a warhead about half the size.

And even when talking about missile damage generally, I have found it can be a little inconsistant with the new damage model, so hes not entirely wrong that the model needs refinement.

Though the first change I would make is having IR missiles target the hot part of the airframe (the engines) and not the tail. Would help a lot

Is there a jet ingame with this early falcon

Yes, more sections and ofc missiles going for engines, though thats a missile rework thing more than a bomber rework

I like Umamusume too dude.

Oh, you mean the missile

All gaijin did was no-shit just increase the values of HP on the modules of the aircraft. THAT’S IT.

Fire at the wing tips of the B-29.

It’s going to break and snap off. Because it’s programmed to break and snap off.

In the datamines, gaijin purposely made the wing tips weaker because they were trying to stop players from just getting blown to pieces and instead make it where you need to strike the modules but you could still snap wing tips.

It’s technically more “realistic” now but not in the autism accuracy way that some people wanted.

If they made these areas snap, they would need to remodel the entire aircraft to break right there as well because they were NEVER DESIGNED TO SNAP THERE.

Congrats, this is what happens when you have a game almost old enough to drive have major changes to it’s damage modeling that really showcase what’s modeled and what isn’t.

Like if you extract the B-29 model? You can find parts and components that break off. The inner wings are not just ‘not programmed’ They aren’t even modeled. So you would have to remodel EVERY SINGLE MULTI ENGINE AIRCRAFT

No.

but he is using an IRL source of one impacting a B-17 to evaluate the damage model.

Though with the current state of hte damage model (a few large parts) I think the results will never be usable, even if there was. CRV7 rocket pods on something like the Harrier Gr7 was the closest I could find to the desired warhead in the British tree at least

So basically this bomber rework is a stopgap

Just got four hits for no kills, crazy. Sounds like you just reset until you got lucky.

I know. A datamine showed some parts got a +900% increase.

Hydra-70s have 1.19kg HE.

“I reset still I got lucky” Ok lemme post the entire clip you little baby, gimmie a sec to upload

Anything in the British TT with H-70s?

Edit; F-18s

No but you can grab the purcara with mighty mouses, ima do that shortly too, though its heat… eh close enough

no cap fr fr.

Basically. They physically cannot fix this without dumping extraordinarily large amounts of money into it. And arguing realism at this point is dumb when right now we just need “good enough.” Because “Great” will never be possible because the game was never designed to break bombers the way they’re meant to break.

Honestly, the damage model changes would work better for FIGHTERS of all things. But then they would need to overhaul how ammunition worked.

I have such a large smile on my face because it’s forcing people to confront issues KillaKiwi and I bitched and moaned about for years.

Worst part is, you can’t go “Well, we’ll make new aircraft have a different damage model and work it back to them.” because then you’ll have some aircraft playing by COMPLETELY different rules in terms of damage modeling.

“I just got 4 hits ur cheating u reset” Nawwwwwwww cuhhh you just SUCK at this gaaaaaaame

They can, and already have the features for it. They can just have damage carry over from inner sections to outer sections, to the parts that actually break. To a degree they already do this:

this was a direct hit from a LOSAT to the fuselage

you know the LOSAT has zero filler and all wouldve done irl is genuinely punch a perfect hole through the bomber? You’re just showcasing the EXACT reason its not working out for you bro

Cool, that’s not how that works here. It deals an extremely high amount of kinetic damage.

Like I said, “Good enough.” but never the way you would want it to realistically work…

There has to be something to absorb that kinetic energy, the only force thats getting transferred to the airframe is the force it needed to punch through the skin and whatever else it hit (not tank armor), the penetrator of that missile is literally just passing through going “must be the wind”

H-70 impacting a B-29s wing (i have no idea how to setup a thing where I can shoot at a B-17 in a F-18)

does not blow the wing off if the impact point is the inner engine or the point between the engines. 1 or both engines are usually set on fire and the control surfaces on that wing are destroyed. I think the issue is that the control surface is taking all the damage and the wing behind isnt, the engines are being set on fire by the splash damage.
