I want to see what the chances are of getting a new aircraft for the russian tech tree, somewhat end of 2025 and early 2026. I think the su30sm2 should be a good implementation to the game especially with the stronger engines because the ones on the su30sm suck we all agree on that right? So i just want to see your opinion on this.

If I had to guess I think it’s more likely the MiG line gets a new hat before another Sukhoi.
The Su-30SM being a solid platform, which doesn’t really matter: Rafale C F3 still one of the best and probably superior aircraft in air-to-air engagements, USSR tech tree should recieve a better premium airplane, being far behind some tech trees currently in this regard.
isn’t the MiG-23ML a really good plane? (when you don’t have full teams of them running around with bombs chasing bases)
SU-30SM is one of the strongest top tier aircraft in game right now and worthy of being 14.0.
It has the second best radar at top tier, 12x of the second best ARH at top tier just behind the MICA EM (assuming Aim-120C5s are not fixed by the time they come to live) which is 1.5-3x the ARH loadout of most other aircraft at 13.7/14.0 and the FM is fine.
Japan, Sweden and China are still in need of 14.0 aircraft that can match the SU-30SM and some of the other 14.0s like the Typhoon, F-18C and F-15E could do with some buffs (that should be the Aim-120C5s, but they were barely a sidegrade to the Aim-120A on the dev server) let alone a host of other issues affecting them.
A well played Su-30SM doesnt even need to defend, it can just shoot down any AMRAAM or any other missile fired at it and then surpress anything that was trying to attack it. If the fight somehow goes WVR, you still have HMD and R-73s to fall back on.
TLDR: USSR does not need a new top tier aircraft until at least maybe Decemeber, when everyone else can either get new stuff too or upgrades for their existing aircraft
While you have a point on other nations catching up morvran depending on what way the C5 goes after it hits live will be the deciding factor. Personally I wouldnt mind the mig line catching up with the M2 or KR variants rather than something that would exceed the current top like a 27SM3/30SM2 or 35S.
Perhaps, Will be intersting to see what they decide to do with the C5 (and lets face it, it wont be historically accurate, isntead it will be whatever they decide it to be) but id personally prefer a refinement of existing mechanics or the addition of new mechanics (like ECM) rather than starting another “arms race” with new additions if possible. Heck im still waiting for some pretty major bug reports on the Typhoon to even be looked at, let alone fixed.
So maybe other stuff that is onpar with the Su-30SM, but I dont think anything is needed to be better than the Su-30SM
They can add more powerful engine to Su-30SM like they did with 27SM.
Other than that Russia doesnt need anything new.
As much as that could help I would personally prefer the SM2 to be added a separate aircraft, it brings more than just the engines, so I could easily see that foldered with the SM one day.
Sm2 can be add seperetaly as you Said, but adding more powerful engines to current SM Will not hurt anyone.
Yeah I guess the decision to add better engines to the 27Sm was due to its, I presume, bad performance in the game, so maybe they could think the same of the Su30, even though I personally think it’s a great aircraft and it’s not doing bad at all eversince its addition.
