Challenger 3 MBT - Technical Data and Discussion

The engine changes were originally part of HAAIP, which some CR2s are undergoing prior to CR3 conversion. CAT has previously said that a 1500hp upgrade to the CV12 was possible and did so right before/after mentioning common rail injection, which we know the upgraded CV12 is getting. Plus the pulicly available datasheet for the CV12 has 1000hp and 1500hp graphs, along with values for both of those as well as the 1200hp version. The QRH twitter account also said that HAAIP provides a 1500hp engine. The kph → mph gaffe on the original CR3 press release also suggested a significant upgrade

That being said, to my knowledge there’s been no official word that the 1500hp upgrade was ever anything more than an option available to MoD, and in hindsight it’s clear that they’d decided against it.

The ATDU has successfully tested an upgraded version of the transmission on Megatron, though I’ve not really read up on that too much.

I do agree that it’s a bit of a Frankenstein’s Tank at the moment.

Removal of the LWS has been passed to devs. My initial thought is that Gaijin saw the marketing around what CR3 would be capable of and applied all those to the TD, regardless of whether they were present/visible on the tank, but then the video of the interior showed that the turret didn’t have spall liners so they were omitted. Similarly, all available footage/images of the turret roof show that there’s no way for the ammo in the turret bustle to vent outside of the vehicle, so there’s no blow-out functionality.

Personally I think the CR3(TD) should still have the CV12-6A engine, as it’s just Rhm’s LEP demonstrator (which was a separate project to HAAIP) renamed and rolled out again as part of the CR3 announcement. Aside from the Trophy mock-up I don’t think there’s been anything that suggests it’s been changed at all from the initial LEP demonstrator.

All of them have Blowout panels.

I was asking cause I’ve heard people say they don’t work, my question had little to do with CR 3TDs non-working blowout panels

those proves i would love to hear, but eh wrong thread either way

I wanted to ask because GaYjin are lazy and didn’t model the blowout panels of the CR 3TD

because it doesnt have them in real life
there wasnt anything to model which doesnt exist in the first place

Of course its a mock-up right now? The tanks are still in trial and only a handful have been built. The MOD and even ForcesNews have said all challenger 3’s will be fitted with a hardkill APS. There’s videos of it being tested and 1 or 2 of the newly built C3s have them fitted. If you scroll up theres videos and photos of it working and in action. Why would they do and say app that for it to be a mockup?

context is important buddy, he complained that the CR 3 TD shouldnt have been added and instead of any of the other versions he named.
At the point of introduction of the DR 3 TD the challenger 3 with throphy simply didnt exist yet. the only one in existence was one with mock up aps they showed of as how it could look.

Now they exist, they didnt exist when the cr 3 td got added to the game

The fact that they refused to give it a 5 second reload despite every Abrams, Merkava, Ariete and other Challenger getting it proves exactly this.

Might simply have to with cannon coding and the the code being linked to the leopard series.
Might just be u cant lower the cooldown for 1 vehicle specialy but would need to affect all

heck, the worst bit about the 5 second is it’s a balancing factor. Somehow they view the 3TD as superior to the Merkava, Ariete, and M1A1s. Yes it gets DM53, but it’s using the old Turret Armour model iirc, and it’s essentially a old CR2 with a L/55A1 stuck in it.

The solution for that would be as simple as to change CR3TD’s name to include the model of the tank.

L/55A1
L/55A1 (CR3TD)

And… voilá!

EDIT: and that would have been if that were the issue. As it has been shown, reload values are individual to each tank anyway.

Not even that, since they kept it at a lower BR… it’s more like they want it to not be as good as it could be.

You guys are overly complicating something that can be changed with one number

change it to 0.2 and you have a 5s reload. Every tank has a unique independent value.

And Voila: every L/55A1 armed tank now turned into a helicopter and immediatly explodes when trying to fire the cannon /j

its the same MG251 cannon so its not linked to the guns

wait it does? do we have any images of it?

Dont ask me that guy said tests are being made

It’s the tank, it’s got nothing to do with real IRL info and more about making Israel competitive again (not that it was really ever competitive)
